À propos de ce poste Lead Senior Accountant chez FlexTal Staffing LLC
We are seeking an experienced Lead Senior Accountant to join a growing organization operating in the real estate and senior living industries.
This role is ideal for a strong accounting professional who combines hands-on general ledger and financial reporting experience with an audit and controls mindset. The Lead Senior Accountant will play a key role in the monthly close process, financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and review of accounting activity across multiple entities.
In addition to core accounting responsibilities, this position will help identify accounting discrepancies, evaluate processes and internal controls, support audit readiness, and ensure financial information is accurate, complete, and properly supported.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and perform monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close activities across multiple entities.
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Review general ledger activity and investigate unusual transactions, discrepancies, or unexplained variances.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and trial balances.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations, including cash, fixed assets, liabilities, equity, payroll, and other key accounts.
- Prepare variance analysis and provide clear explanations of actual versus budget results.
- Reconcile financial information between accounting, payroll, banking, operational, and other systems.
- Review accounting documentation for accuracy, completeness, and appropriate support.
- Identify accounting errors, control gaps, and process weaknesses and recommend corrective actions.
- Help develop, document, and improve accounting procedures and internal controls.
- Support external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, documentation, and responses to auditor requests.
- Perform audit-style testing and review of selected transactions and account activity when necessary.
- Assist with fixed asset accounting and maintenance.
- Partner with the Controller and other members of the accounting team to resolve complex accounting matters.
- Provide review and guidance to accounting team members as needed.
- Participate in special accounting, audit, and process-improvement projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 4+ years of progressive accounting and/or audit experience.
- Strong general ledger and month-end close experience.
- Experience preparing and reviewing account reconciliations and financial statements.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and fundamental accounting principles.
- Experience identifying accounting discrepancies and researching complex transactions.
- Understanding of internal controls and audit procedures.
- Public accounting or external/internal audit experience is a strong plus.
- Experience working with multiple entities or locations is preferred.
- Senior living, healthcare, real estate, or other multi-location industry experience is preferred.
- Sage Intacct experience is a plus.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to independently identify issues, research root causes, and recommend solutions.
- Strong organizational and project-management skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively with accounting and operational teams.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a technically strong accountant who naturally approaches the numbers with an auditor’s mindset. This person does not simply complete reconciliations and close the books—they ask questions, investigate inconsistencies, verify supporting documentation, identify risks, and look for opportunities to strengthen accounting processes and controls.
They should be comfortable owning accounting work from transaction review through financial statement preparation while also serving as an additional layer of review and quality control for the accounting function.
