The Volunteer’s Role

As part of Cuso International's commitment to strengthening economic resilience and fostering inclusive growth, we work with local partners to enhance their ability to respond to changing market conditions, support private sector development, and create sustainable economic opportunities.

In this placement, you will support ANDI in strengthening its organizational effectiveness through the development of a renewed five-year Strategic Plan. As a leading industry association, ANDI is redefining its priorities and value proposition to better serve its members, foster strategic partnerships, and demonstrate measurable economic impact through enhanced competitiveness, employment generation, supplier development, and business growth.

We are seeking a volunteer with expertise in strategic planning, organizational development, and institutional strengthening to guide the strategic planning process and help align the organization's future direction with the priorities and needs of its membership.

This assignment offers a unique opportunity to support a key business association in strengthening its long-term vision, improving organizational effectiveness, and increasing its impact within the private sector.

As a volunteer, you will:

  • Review and evaluate existing strategic planning documents, reports, and organizational information.
  • Assess current organizational priorities, challenges, and opportunities to inform the strategic planning process.
  • Develop a methodology and work plan for updating ANDI's Institutional Strategic Plan.
  • Facilitate consultations and validation sessions with members and key stakeholders.
  • Analyze stakeholder feedback and integrate findings into the revised strategic framework.
  • Support the development of a comprehensive five-year Strategic Plan aligned with ANDI's new priorities and vision.
  • Present and validate the final Strategic Plan with organizational leadership and members.
  • Provide recommendations to strengthen organizational effectiveness, member engagement, and long-term sustainability.

Essential Qualifications:

  • University degree in Business Administration, Economics, Public Administration, Strategic Management, Organizational Development, or a related field.
  • MBA or related graduate degree is considered an asset.

Essential Background:

  • Experience in strategic planning, organizational development, or institutional strengthening.
  • Experience supporting organizational transformation and stakeholder engagement.
  • Knowledge of governance, change management, and performance management.
  • Strong analytical, facilitation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in diverse and multicultural environments.

Volunteer Support and Requirements 

Support Package

Cuso International provides a comprehensive support package to ensure volunteers maintain a modest and healthy lifestyle aligned with local standards. This includes: 

  • Monthly living allowance

  • Round-trip airfare and visa/work permit costs 
  • Pre-placement, in-country and reintegration training (along with access to self-directed materials and online resources)

Selection and Screening

If you are shortlisted, you will need to: 

  • Confirm passport or permanent resident details for travel 
  • Provide two professional references and one personal reference 
  • Complete a language assessment during the initial phone interview 
  • Pass a police check and medical clearance before departure 
  • Comply with anti-terrorism checks 
  • Agree to uphold the Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) policy and Code of Conduct 

Residency and Citizenship: Candidates are responsible for confirming how volunteering internationally may affect their citizenship or residency status. Canadian Permanent Residents should verify requirements with Immigration Canada before travel.
