As an Options Trade Supervisor, you will play a critical role in maintaining the stability, integrity and performance of Optiver’s automated options trading systems during our Taiwan night session, an area of the business we are actively expanding.

This is a dedicated evening and overnight role, with night-session hours forming your regular working pattern. As our coverage grows, the session and associated working hours may extend later over time.

You will act as the first responder during night-session trading, taking ownership of issues from detection through to resolution. Your focus will be on keeping our automated trading strategies operating safely and reliably within clearly defined guardrails, while ensuring timely and effective communication with relevant stakeholders.

This is an operationally focused trade supervision role rather than a discretionary trading role. You will apply trading judgement within narrow, pre-agreed parameters, escalating when issues fall outside those boundaries. A decisive approach, strong ownership and a practical problem-solving mindset are essential.

What You’ll Do

• Supervising automated trading: Monitor Optiver’s automated options trading systems across TXO options and futures throughout the night session.
• Managing live trading risk: Assess trading activity for risk, compliance and production issues, responding decisively to unusual system behaviour or market conditions.
• Operating within defined guardrails: Pause or disable strategies when clearly defined thresholds are met — for example, when approaching position or risk limits, identifying abnormal or persistently loss-making trading patterns, or encountering valuation or pricing issues that cannot be resolved through standard recovery procedures.
• Owning incident response: Take issues from initial detection through diagnosis, mitigation and resolution, escalating promptly when they fall outside established procedures or authority.
• Coordinating across teams: Work closely with on-site and remote traders, risk managers, engineers, brokers and the exchange to troubleshoot and resolve production issues in real time.
• Improving system resilience: Identify and drive structural improvements to system stability, automation, monitoring and operational processes, reducing manual intervention and making the session safer and more scalable over time. As your knowledge of the market and systems develops, use data and research to identify opportunities to improve our automated trading stack.
• Maintaining operational discipline: Document procedures and maintain clear, accurate records of incidents, actions taken, escalations and resolutions.

Who You Are

• You have 1–7 years of experience in trading, trade supervision, trade monitoring, risk, application engineering or a comparable role in a financial markets environment. We are open to candidates from different trading environments, including roles that combine systematic trading, monitoring, automation and operational responsibilities.
• You are willing and able to commit to evening and overnight working hours as your regular, ongoing schedule.
• You have prior exposure to trading across asset classes or strategies; experience with listed or exchange-traded options is highly desirable.
• You understand exchange-specific trading rules and procedures. Experience with Taiwan markets or TAIFEX is desirable, although a demonstrated ability to learn new market structures quickly is equally important.
• You are highly organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to operate independently and make sound decisions under pressure with minimal oversight.
• You are a clear communicator who can prioritise effectively, coordinate multiple stakeholders and escalate issues concisely.
• You bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on identifying root causes rather than repeatedly treating symptoms.
• Experience working with high-frequency or automated trading systems is preferred.
• Experience with Python, Linux command-line tools, and extracting and manipulating large datasets is advantageous.
