NetSuite Analyst

TEAM & THE JOB

The Enterprise Systems NetSuite team owns the support, development and strategic direction of YouGov's NetSuite ERP platform, the system underpinning the company's core finance processes. The team is being reshaped to combine operational analyst support with dedicated architectural capability under the Senior Finance Systems Implementation Manager.

As NetSuite Analyst, you will be the day-to-day operational owner of the platform — the person Finance turns to when something needs configuring, investigating, reporting on or fixing. You will keep NetSuite running reliably through month-end and year-end, translate business requests into practical configuration, build the reporting Finance depends on, and act as the bridge between finance users and the technical team.

This is a hands-on, configuration-led role. Where a requirement needs custom scripting or a new integration, you will define the requirement clearly and work with the NetSuite Architect to deliver it — not build it yourself. You will be expected to know where that line sits and to make the call confidently.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING – KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide day-to-day functional and technical support to Finance and wider business users, triaging, prioritising and resolving incidents and service requests within agreed SLAs, and escalating to the NetSuite Architect or Oracle Support where appropriate.
  • Configure the platform using native NetSuite tooling — custom fields, forms, records, lists, saved searches, roles and permissions, transaction and approval workflows in SuiteFlow — without recourse to custom code.
  • Build and maintain saved searches, reports, dashboards and SuiteAnalytics workbooks that give Finance and operational stakeholders accurate, timely visibility of the numbers.
  • Support the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close, ensuring period-close activities, reconciliations, intercompany processes and reporting run to timetable, and resolving issues that put the close at risk.
  • Own user administration and access control across subsidiaries — roles, permissions, segregation of duties and periodic access reviews — maintaining an auditable control environment.
  • Gather, document and challenge business requirements, distinguishing what can be met through configuration from what needs architectural input, and producing clear functional specifications for the latter.
  • Plan and execute testing, including functional and regression testing of enhancements and structured testing of NetSuite's twice-yearly release upgrades in the Release Preview sandbox, identifying and remediating impacts before they reach production.
  • Manage data quality and data operations — CSV imports, mass updates, master data maintenance and reconciliation — protecting the integrity of financial and transactional data.
  • Monitor scheduled processes and system integrations, investigating failures and data synchronisation issues, and coordinating resolution with the Architect and third-party providers.
  • Produce and maintain process documentation, configuration records, knowledge articles and end-user guidance, and deliver training and floor-walking support that raises adoption and reduces repeat demand.
  • Contribute to enhancement and project delivery as the functional voice of the business, supporting the Architect and Senior Finance Systems Implementation Manager from requirements through UAT to post-go-live hypercare.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (TECHNICAL & BEHAVIOURAL SKILLS/COMPETENCIES)

  • 3–5+ years' hands-on NetSuite experience in an analyst, administrator or functional consultant capacity, supporting a live production environment used by finance teams.
  • Practical experience of NetSuite OneWorld in a multi-subsidiary, multi-currency organisation, including intercompany transactions and consolidation.
  • Expert-level saved search and reporting capability — complex criteria, formulae, joins and summary results — with working knowledge of SuiteAnalytics workbooks and datasets.
  • Strong configuration skills across SuiteBuilder (custom fields, forms, records, lists, centre tabs) and SuiteFlow (approval routing, state-based workflows, conditional actions).
  • Confident administration of roles, permissions and access controls, with an understanding of segregation of duties and audit expectations.
  • Solid working knowledge of core finance processes — Order-to-Cash, Procure-to-Pay, Record-to-Report — and of what a month-end close demands of the system.
  • Experience of NetSuite release management, including Release Preview testing and assessing upgrade impact on existing customisations.
  • Comfort reading and interpreting existing SuiteScript, SuiteQL or scripted workflows well enough to diagnose behaviour and brief a developer accurately — writing production script is not required.
  • Structured approach to support work: ticket management (Jira, ServiceNow or similar), prioritisation against business impact, and clear ownership of an issue through to closure (be accountable).
  • Ability to explain system behaviour and options in plain language to non-technical finance colleagues, and to translate their requests into precise requirements for technical delivery (communicate clearly).
  • A collaborative, service-minded approach — sharing knowledge and documenting rather than holding it, and supporting colleagues across a distributed, multi-cultural finance function (trust each other).
  • Willingness to keep pace with NetSuite platform releases and new capability, and to bring improvement ideas forward rather than waiting to be asked (be fast).
  • NetSuite SuiteFoundation certification, or the willingness to obtain it within the first six months; NetSuite Administrator certification preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Business or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
