Job Description:

As bp transitions to an integrated energy company, we must adapt to a changing world and maintain competitive performance. Bp's customers & products (C&P) business area is setting up a business and technology centre (BTC) in Pune, India. This will support the delivery of an enhanced customer experience and drive innovation by building global capabilities at scale,  demonstrating  technology, and developing deep expertise. The BTC will be a core and connected part of our business, bringing together colleagues who report into their respective part of C&P, working together with other functions across bp. Shift timings: 3 AM to 12 PM & 5 AM to 2 PM (IST)

About the role :

As a Micro Space Planner within the Trading Services Hub, you will play a key role in supporting bp’s ANZ retail business by optimising product assortments, shelf layouts, and store space utilisation to deliver exceptional customer experiences and strong commercial outcomes. Using category insights, sales performance data, and merchandising principles, you will create and maintain planograms that drive product availability, maximise sales and profitability, and support effective shelf strategies. Working closely with category, merchandising, retail, Pricebook, promotions related collaborators, you will influence range reviews, product change initiatives, waste reduction activities, and customer mission-based ranging strategies. This role sits at the heart of bp’s retail operations, helping to translate customer and business insights into actionable merchandising solutions that enhance store performance and support the successful delivery of bp’s retail strategy across the ANZ network.

 

What you will deliver (responsibilities) 

Articulate key outcomes and accountabilities that this person will deliver to be successful in this role. Ensure you describe the deliverables the results you want the job holder to deliver and not the process you expect them to apply to get to these outcomes 

• Champion a customer-centric approach in all decision-making
• Leverage data and customer insights to optimise sales, profitability, and space performance.
• Define and implement the range review cycle in partnership with category team and ensure activities/requirements are completed within specified time frames.   
• Build Micro and Macro planograms / floor plans in line with merchandising standards and guidelines.
• Work with the Food & Merchandise Category Team to align space planning decisions with category strategies and commercial objectives.
• Work with Retail operations, Pricebook, Promotions and Commercial teams to ensure planograms are implemented effectively on time and deliver the intended customer and business outcomes.
• Data and Analytics teams to demonstrate customer insights, sales performance, and space productivity metrics to support decision-making.
• Support the delivery of strategic retail initiatives across Buying Group sites, including the adoption and optimisation of Electronic Shelf Labels (ESL) and other emerging technologies.    
• Cross-functional collaborators involved in product change cycles, new product launches, deletions, and promotional initiatives

 

What you will need to be successful (experience, job requirements & qualifications)

• 3-5 years micro-space planning experience 
• Experience with JDA CKB space planning tool (or similar tools) highly desirable 
• Ability to convey information fluently, whilst interpreting and clarifying details and explaining rationale 
• Strong collaboration with all internal stakeholders and in particular, members of the Food & Merchandise team
• Strong commercial competence and excellent analytical/problem solving ability 
• Knowledge of working Convenience/ FMCG industry is desirable
