About the Role

IEX is looking for a highly motivated Market Operations Specialist to join our Options Market Operations team. In this role, you will help operate and support the IEX Options exchange, working closely with member firms and internal Product, Technology, Regulatory, and Business teams. 

You’ll bring a strong understanding of U.S. options market structure, electronic trading systems, and operational risk, along with an interest in using data and automation to improve how the desk operates. This is a hands-on role for someone who stays composed in a fast-paced trading environment, takes ownership, and enjoys solving problems at the intersection of markets and technology. 

What You Will Do 

• Execute and continuously improve daily market operations procedures for the IEX Options exchange. 

• Develop deep expertise in IEX systems, market functionality, order types, and external member interfaces. 

• Support member testing and connectivity in the IEX test environment, including troubleshooting and executing operational requests. 

• Analyze trading and operational data to investigate client issues, identify risks, and improve processes. 

• Build and maintain automation tools and scripts that make the Market Operations desk more efficient and scalable. 

• Review and process member requests, including Obvious Error reviews and other time-sensitive trading issues. 

• Partner closely with Technology Operations, Product Management, Business Development, Business Analytics, Quality Assurance, Compliance, and Regulation. 

• Participate in industry testing, product initiatives, and business-development efforts as IEX continues to grow its options business. 

• Help strengthen the team’s operating procedures, documentation, and risk controls. 

Your Background 

• 5+ years of market operations, trading operations, or related experience at an options market maker, exchange, broker-dealer, or electronic trading firm. 

• Knowledge of U.S. options market structure, electronic trading, and trading systems. 

• Comfortable working with complex data sets and using data to troubleshoot issues and inform decisions. 

• Interest in developing Python and automation skills, or experience doing so already. 

• High attention to detail and sound judgment in a dynamic, time-sensitive environment. 

• Curious, open-minded, and quick to learn new systems, concepts, and market functionality. 

• Willing and able to support a flexible schedule and on-call environment. 

• Nice to Have
  • Python or other scripting experience, particularly using automation to eliminate manual operational work.
  • Experience with Git or other version-control systems.
  • Experience analyzing large trading, market, or operational data sets.
  • Familiarity with options order types, order book behavior, microstructure, and exchange technology.
  • Experience supporting member firms, trading connectivity, or exchange operations. 

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting annual base pay is between $150,000-$160,000 for this NY-based position. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The annual base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role is eligible for bonus and equity.
