Manufacturing Excellence and Transformation Lead APAC
Role purpose
Drive sustained improvements in manufacturing performance across APAC by strengthening site capabilities, delivering targeted operational improvements and leading key manufacturing transitions.
The role covers manufacturing excellence across Kuala Lumpur, Mount Lavinia, Hsinchu and Pulogadung; leadership of the APAC CMO transition to the new operating setup; and oversight of the operational excellence framework for the new sites in China and India.
Success requires a balance of hard operational results and lasting capability development, with improvements embedded in how sites operate every day.
Key accountabilities
Deliver operational performance improvement across the three existing sites
• Agree clear improvement priorities with site leaders, based on performance gaps and business needs across safety, quality, service, cost and cash.
• Translate priorities into focused delivery plans with measurable targets, named owners and regular performance reviews.
• Lead targeted interventions to address chronic losses, improve reliability and throughput, reduce waste and strengthen schedule adherence.
• Validate benefits with Finance and site leadership, ensuring improvements are sustained in operational performance.
Build HAPS capability and operating discipline
• Drive implementation of Haleon Operational Excellence Program (HAPS) within APAC region.
• Coach site leaders and frontline teams to identify losses, resolve root causes and sustain standards.
• Build capability through improvements delivered on the shop floor, linking training directly to operational needs and results.
• Develop local ownership so that each site can sustain and extend improvements independently.
Lead the APAC CMO transition to the new operating setup
• Own the integrated transition plan, including milestones, responsibilities, dependencies and insourcing
• Establish clear accountabilities and working interfaces between the regional team, global CMO organization, Quality and Technical functions
• Lead APAC insourcing of CMO volume into new sites in China and India
• Coordinate the transfer of activities, knowledge, performance management and governance, protecting supply continuity throughout the transition.
Embed operational excellence in the new China and India sites
• Oversee the design and deployment of the operational excellence framework from startup, working with project and site leadership.
• Ensure the sites establish the right performance measures, daily management systems routines, maintenance practices, problem-solving methods and capability plans.
• Define operational excellence readiness criteria and review progress at key startup and ramp-up milestones.
• Apply learning from existing sites and support early interventions to achieve stable, reliable operations and planned productivity.
Connect the APAC manufacturing improvement agenda
• Prioritise effort and resources against the region’s most material operational opportunities.
• Share proven practices across sites and align with global manufacturing excellence standards.
• Provide a clear view of results, capability gaps and delivery risks, escalating decisions that require regional or global support.
Accountability and ways of working
Site leaders retain accountability for daily operations and site results. This role is accountable for the manufacturing excellence programme and its benefits, the delivery of the APAC CMO transition, and the establishment of the operational excellence framework at the new sites.
The role has the mandate to agree improvement commitments with site leaders, challenge progress, lead cross-site interventions and escalate unresolved delivery risks.
Measures of success
- Operational results: Agreed improvements in reliability/OEE, schedule adherence, conversion cost, waste and inventory, while maintaining safety and quality standards.
- Capability and sustainability: Site teams independently using core routines and sustaining improvements after interventions.
- CMO transition: Transition to new segmentation model, clear plan for insourcing into new sites with supply continuity maintained.
- New site readiness: Operational excellence readiness criteria met and agreed ramp-up, stability and productivity milestones achieved.
Experience and capabilities
• Strong manufacturing leadership experience, with direct accountability for operational performance.
• Demonstrated delivery of measurable improvements through Lean/TPM, reliability and structured problem solving.
• Ability to build capability at both leadership and shop-floor levels.
• Experience leading operational transitions and working across internal manufacturing and external partners.
• Experience in new-site startup or manufacturing ramp-up.
• Strong cross-cultural leadership and influence, with the judgement to balance common standards and local needs.
The successful candidate will be a manufacturing leader who builds capability through delivery and is comfortable owning results as well as coaching teams.
