As Manager, Product Modernization, you will support the evolution of BMO's retail insurance products through ongoing product enhancements, customer-focused improvements, and modernization initiatives. You will work across Retail Insurance, Actuarial, Personal Banking, frontline channels and delivery partners to design an offering that is relevant, differentiated and easy for customers and employees to navigate. From opportunity assessment through implementation, you will support the execution of the product enhancements and coordinated delivery across key stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities

Product Modernization & Market Intelligence 

• Identify, recommend and execute retail insurance product enhancement opportunities that support the product modernization roadmap, including changes to product features, coverage levels, limits, eligibility criteria and benefit structures.
• Lead competitive market intelligence across Retail Insurance products and adjacent lending experiences, leveraging customer insights, sales feedback and global market trends to identify opportunities to strengthen product competitiveness and customer value.

• Develop evidence-based recommendations and business cases for product enhancements, assessing customer value, commercial potential, investment requirements, trade-offs, risks, and implementation considerations.
• Championing the thoughtful use of AI and emerging capabilities to accelerate market intelligence, uncover customer and product insights, and improve how modernization opportunities are evaluated and prioritized.

• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to support implementation and delivery of approved product enhancements and modernization initiatives.

Customer, Sales & One Client Experience 

• Bring the voice of the customer and frontline into product design through research, feedback loops and experience validation across the end-to-end journey. 

• Partner with Actuarial, Personal Banking lending teams, distribution leaders and customer-facing channels to connect lending and insurance experiences in support of One Client. 

Commercial, Analytical & Digital Mindset 

• Partner with key stakeholders to assess the expected benefits, investment requirements and delivery effort of product opportunities, helping prioritize the modernization roadmap and support funding conversations.
• A forward-looking digital mindset, with the curiosity and judgment to identify where AI and automation can strengthen product insights, decision-making and team efficiency.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Delivery 

• Act as a key business partner for Retail Insurance product modernization initiatives, connecting product direction, customer outcomes, commercial priorities and delivery decisions. 

• Mobilize partners across Retail Insurance, Personal Banking, User Experience, Technology, Operations, Business Enablement, Compliance, Risk and Legal. 

Qualifications 

• 5 or more years of relevant experience in product management, product modernization, business transformation, financial services, banking or insurance. 

• Strong product knowledge and experience with creditor insurance, lending or related financial services are assets. 

• University degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Economics, Insurance or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is an asset.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
