The Role

As a Mainframe Automation System Administrator at Kyndryl, you’ll solve complex problems and identify potential future issues across the spectrum of platforms and services. You’ll be at the forefront of new technology and modernization, working with some of our biggest clients – which means some of the biggest in the world.

There’s never a typical day as a System Administrator at Kyndryl, because no two projects are alike. You’ll be managing systems data for clients and providing day-to-day solutions and security compliance. You’ll oversee a queue of assignments and work directly with technicians, prioritizing tickets to deliver the best solutions to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer, maintain, and support IBM System Automation for z/OS environments.

• Design, implement, and maintain automation policies and system recovery procedures.

• Monitor and manage automation infrastructure to ensure system availability and operational stability.

• Troubleshoot and resolve automation-related incidents and production issues.

• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.

• Support automated startup, shutdown, failover, and recovery processes.

• Collaborate with Mainframe Systems Programming, Operations, Infrastructure, and Application Support teams.

• Participate in system upgrades, migrations, testing, and implementation activities.

• Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and support guides.

• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation and process optimization.

• Support incident, problem, change, and service management processes.

• Participate in on-call support activities as required.

• Ensure compliance with operational standards, security requirements, and service level agreements (SLAs).

• Contribute to knowledge-sharing activities and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• 6+ Years of Experience in IBM System Automation for z/OS.

• Knowledge of IBM NetView and related Mainframe automation technologies.

• Understanding of z/OS operating systems and Mainframe infrastructure components.

• Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues in complex enterprise environments.

• Experience supporting production and operational environments.

• Knowledge of incident, problem, change, and service management processes.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

• Professional proficiency in English, with the ability to effectively communicate with global stakeholders in both written and verbal interactions.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within global teams.

• Strong focus on operational excellence and customer service.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

• Familiarity with Sysplex, JES2, RACF, GDPS, and related z/OS technologies.

• Knowledge of ITIL practices and service management frameworks.

• Experience with automation policy development and implementation.

• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise Mainframe environments.

• Experience working in financial services or other highly regulated industries.
