Your Key Responsibilities

• Safely operates all machines in the shop, performing very complex operations in producing prototype parts, production parts, modifications and repairs to existing parts and assemblies, and/or fabricating parts from steels, stainless steels, aluminum, plastics, and other non-metals.
• Supports in-house customers, such as manufacturing, engineering, business units, direct/indirect materials, and facilities, while portraying effectively & courteousness customer service approach.
• Utilizes Work Orders, Blueprints, Sketches, written and verbal instructions to determine machining process, procedures, tooling, and fixtures requirements.
• Performs a variety of machining and/or assembly tasks utilizing standard machine shop equipment, such as surface grinders, drill presses, grinders, sanders, band saws, rotary table, and/or standard band and power tools. 
• Plans and performs very complex machine set-ups. Makes full use of machine capacity to minimize amount of machining or number of set-ups required to product parts competitively.
• Performs machining operations, such as milling, turning, facing, boring, chasing single and multiple external and internal threads, drilling, grooving, reaming, and chamfering.
• Monitor machines and verify that part dimensions conform to specifications.
• Performs visual and dimensional inspections to verify compliance with specifications. Performs rework, as necessary.

~ While conforming to departmental safety requirements, you must maintain cleanliness of the work area and ensures proper handling of tools, equipment, and stock to prevent loss ~

Qualifications Necessary for Success

• Trade school certificate in Machining + 5 years in the field OR a Journeyman in a machinist’s trade union OR verifiable 10 years field experience.

Note:  The materials we work with are exclusively graphite & silicon carbide.  There are no metals machined here

• Possesses working knowledge of trigonometry, which is required to accurately calculate angles used in set-ups and machining.
• Use of calipers, micrometers, gauges, indicators, and other inspection tools.

• Programming Knowledge – Must understand G and M code. Able to identify machine movements in advance by monitoring the control display.

• Possesses an advanced working knowledge of trigonometry, which is required to accurately calculate angles used in set-ups and machining.

• Functional Knowledge - Has comprehensive understanding of a range of processes, procedures, systems, and concepts within own discipline

• Leadership - May act as a lead for the team, may coordinate the work of others beyond own area. May provide subject matter guidance to more junior team members
• Problem Solving - Resolves problems by identifying and selecting solutions and applying methods, techniques, experience, and precedents; exercises judgment within generally defined practices. Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors
• Impact - Has direct impact through responsibility for the quality of deliverables
• Interpersonal Skills - Demonstrates tact and diplomacy to exchange ideas and information in a concise and logical way

What sets you apart

• 5 axis experience operating a 5-axis CNS mill.
• Experience with Fanuc machine controls
• Programming experience preferred

Other Requirements: This is a very physically demanding position that often requires standing for extended periods of time, walking, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, reaching, lifting, the ability to distinguish between colors, the ability to work in an environment with noise that may be difficult for some individuals with sensitivity to noise, the use of hand and power tools, and driving or operating heavy machinery including forklifts.

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
