As a Lead Specialist – SSM, you will take ownership of end-to-end insurance and reinsurance servicing activities across placement and claims processes. You will review business requirements, coordinate documentation, manage transaction processing, monitor quality, and ensure that all relevant information is accurately captured in internal systems.
The role requires strong attention to detail and the ability to identify discrepancies, assess information critically, and ensure that transactions meet client requirements and established quality standards. You will coordinate closely with cedents, underwriters, clients, and internal stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain smooth transaction workflows.
You will also support continuous improvement of operational processes by identifying quality gaps, following best practices, maintaining appropriate documentation, and contributing to compliance and quality objectives. The role may involve visits to insurer and client offices as required.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end reinsurance placement and claims processing activities for assigned accounts.
- Draft and finalize proposals, terms, market presentations, and other placement documentation.
- Prepare and issue Requests for Quotes (RFQs) and coordinate quotation requirements with relevant stakeholders.
- Prepare quote comparisons and support evaluation of market responses.
- Create and update enquiries, chase proposal forms, and follow up on outstanding documentation.
- Prepare cover notes, evidence of cover, authorization-to-bind documents, and binding instructions.
- Monitor enhanced policy requirements and follow up to ensure timely completion.
- Send policy documents to clients and conduct detailed policy checking for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain renewal lists, trackers, and other operational records.
- Process booking requests for potential and confirmed business in the relevant systems.
- Ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and aligned with client requirements.
- Generate closing statements to facilitate premium collection and settlement.
- Coordinate closely with cedents and underwriters to ensure smooth and timely processing of transactions.
- Identify valid claims based on policy and slip terms and accurately book claims in the system.
- Ensure claim details, supporting information, and transaction records are complete and accurate.
- Generate claim closing statements to support settlement and collection processes.
- Review transactions and outputs for accuracy, quality, completeness, and compliance.
- Identify process gaps, discrepancies, and potential quality issues and coordinate appropriate resolution.
- Support adherence to applicable IRDAI guidelines, internal controls, and insurance operating procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive client, policy, premium, and claims information.
- Contribute to process improvements and quality-assurance initiatives across insurance operations.
- Support internal stakeholders and participate in insurer or client office visits when required.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- 8+ years of experience in insurance operations, quality analysis, reinsurance, policy administration, or a related insurance domain.
- Strong understanding of insurance and reinsurance business processes and policy lifecycle management.
- Hands-on experience in reinsurance placement, policy servicing, renewals, and claims processing.
- Strong knowledge of proposal preparation, RFQs, quotations, binding documentation, policy checking, and closing statements.
- Experience accurately booking insurance/reinsurance business and claims within operational systems.
- Good understanding of premium collection, claims settlement, cedent coordination, and underwriter interaction.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies and assess information critically.
- Good understanding of quality assurance, process controls, compliance, and operational best practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder-management skills with the ability to work with clients, insurers, cedents, underwriters, and internal teams.
- Strong sense of ownership, accountability, confidentiality, and operational discipline.
- Ability to make sound decisions based on available documentation, evidence, and policy requirements.
- Comfortable working independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
- Willingness to continuously learn and improve insurance processes and quality standards.
- Experience with insurer and client office interactions or visits is preferred.
- Any Bachelor's or Master's degree is acceptable; an insurance-related certification will be an advantage.
