We are seeking an experienced, highly analytical market researcher and writer to serve as our Lead Market Intelligence Analyst & Writer. This hands-on role transforms market data, industry research, economic indicators, regulatory developments, and competitive intelligence into actionable insights and high-quality reports for clients. 

The Lead Market Intelligence Analyst & Writer will research assigned markets and industries, identify meaningful trends and market shifts, analyze historical and current data, and develop forward-looking perspectives. You will translate complex findings into clear, compelling insights for executive audiences. 

The successful candidate will be equally comfortable analyzing datasets, conducting primary and secondary research, identifying patterns and business implications, developing data visualizations, and producing polished client-facing content. 

In addition to producing original research, the Lead will lead, mentor, and review the work of other Market Analyst Writers. You will help establish consistent research methodologies, content priorities, project plans, editorial standards, and quality-control practices across the market intelligence team. 

This role is ideal for someone who is curious by nature and enjoys digging into complex markets, understanding what the data reveals, anticipating what may come next, and turning those insights into concise, compelling stories. 

In this role, regular collaboration with distributed technology teams across multiple time zones, including teams in the United States and India, is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct and maintain comprehensive research on assigned markets, industries, companies, technologies, supply chains, funding trends, regulations, and economic conditions.  
• Gather and evaluate information from government and regulatory sources, industry and company publications, financial and market databases, academic research, internal data, and interviews with industry participants and subject-matter experts. 
• Identify, validate, and document quantitative and qualitative data, including each source’s reliability, methodology, limitations, and timeliness. 
• Monitor developments and emerging trends that may affect the market outlook. 
• Analyze and compare historical, current, and projected market data across industries, companies, geographies, labor markets, and technologies.  
• Evaluate market size, growth or contraction, segmentation, demand, pricing, competition, investment activity, adoption rates, and other relevant indicators. 
• Identify the factors driving market growth, contraction, disruption, and structural change. 
• Distinguish meaningful market signals from temporary fluctuations and develop evidence-based perspectives on the causes and implications of market changes. 
• Translate complex quantitative and qualitative analysis into clear business implications and executive-level insights. 
• Develop evidence-based market forecasts, scenarios, and long-term outlooks that identify emerging trends, opportunities, risks, disruptions, and potential inflection points. 
• Explain the assumptions, evidence, methodologies, and limitations underlying forecasts. 
• Periodically compare actual market outcomes with prior expectations to evaluate and improve forecasting accuracy. 
• Monitor enacted and proposed legislation, regulations, government programs, tax policies, standards, and regulatory guidance that may affect assigned markets. 
• Assess the potential effects of regulatory and policy developments on industries, companies, technologies, costs, investment, demand, and competition, and incorporate relevant findings into market reports and forecasts. 
• Incorporate relevant regulatory insights into market reports, forecasts, and trend analyses. 
• Maintain current regulatory and policy timelines for assigned markets. 
• Create clear and accurate charts, graphs, tables, and other visualizations using methods appropriate to the underlying data and business message. 
• Ensure all visualizations represent the underlying data accurately and objectively. 
• Transform complex data and analysis into compelling visual and written narratives that connect findings, insights, business implications, and conclusions for executive audiences. 
• Serve as a hands-on leader who conducts research, analysis, and writing while providing day-to-day guidance and quality oversight to a team of Market Analyst Writers. 
• Review research plans, analytical approaches, reports, visualizations, forecasts, and conclusions to identify gaps, strengthen analytical rigor, and ensure publication readiness. 
• Coach and mentor analysts in research methodology, data analysis, visualization, professional writing, and the development of clear executive-level insights. 
• Provide constructive feedback that helps analysts distinguish facts, assumptions, analysis, forecasts, and recommendations. 
• Establish and maintain quality standards, research templates, processes, and best practices that promote consistent, credible, and executive-ready deliverables. 
• Prioritize research assignments and support effective workload management across the team. 
• Support the hiring, onboarding, training, and professional development of Market Analyst Writers, as needed. 

Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Data Analytics, Journalism, Communications, Market Research, Social Sciences, or a related field is required. 
• Master’s degree in Economics, Business, Finance, Statistics, Data Science, Market Research, Journalism, or a related field preferred.  
• 5+ years of professional experience in market research, industry analysis, competitive intelligence, business analysis, economic or financial research, consulting, journalism, or a related field required.  
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage research projects from initial inquiry through analysis and final publication. 
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret quantitative and qualitative information. 
• Experience evaluating source credibility and validating research findings. 
• Exceptional business writing and editing skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, compelling insights for executive and business audiences. 
• Experience working in a market research, analyst, consulting, investment or economic re-search, industry publication, or comparable research environment preferred.  
• Experience producing professional, client-facing, or publicly available research reports preferred.  
• Experience developing market forecasts and scenario analyses preferred 
• Experience conducting primary research through interviews, surveys, and other qualitative or quantitative methods preferred 
• Experience researching and analyzing regulatory and legislative developments preferred 
• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or similar visualization platforms preferred 
• Experience with Python, R, SQL, or similar analytical tools preferred 
• Strong Excel or equivalent spreadsheet and data-analysis skills. 
• Experience creating professional charts, graphs, tables, and other data visualizations. 
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to research integrity and factual accuracy. 
• Ability to manage multiple research priorities and deadlines effectively. 
• Experience reviewing work and mentoring analysts, researchers, writers, or similar professionals. 
• High sense of urgency with the ability to meet deadlines and changing priorities.  
• Receptiveness to performance feedback within a team environment is essential.  
• Ability to work onsite in Houston, TX, five days per week.
