About the Role
Pacific Life Re is seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to lead the delivery of strategic technology initiatives across our global organisation. This role is responsible for managing complex infrastructure, operations, cloud, cybersecurity, workplace technology, data centre, application delivery, and enterprise technology projects that support business growth, operational resilience, and technology modernisation.
Working across Asia, Australia, the UK and the US, you will partner with Infrastructure, Operations, Enterprise Architecture, Information Security, Data, Application and Business teams to successfully deliver projects from initiation through implementation and operational handover.
This is a highly visible role requiring strong leadership, exceptional communication skills and the ability to influence both technical and business stakeholders. The successful candidate will combine strong project delivery discipline with deep technology understanding and the ability to clearly articulate complex ideas to executive audiences.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
- Lead end-to-end delivery of medium and large-scale technology projects from concept through implementation and transition to business-as-usual operations.
- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, risks, dependencies, resources and deliverables.
- Develop and maintain project plans, RAID logs, status reporting and governance artefacts.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams across multiple regions and time zones to achieve project objectives.
- Drive timely decision-making, issue resolution and escalation management.
- Ensure projects are delivered to agreed quality, budget and timeline expectations.
Technology Transformation
- Deliver projects across infrastructure, cloud services, networking, cybersecurity, workplace technology, enterprise applications, platforms, service management and operational resilience.
- Support technology modernisation, cloud adoption, data centre migrations, application implementations, infrastructure refreshes and operational improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with Architecture, Security and Operations teams to ensure solutions are secure, supportable and aligned with enterprise standards.
- Manage technology cutovers, service transitions and operational readiness activities.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Build strong relationships with business and technology leaders across all regions.
- Facilitate Steering Committees, governance forums, workshops and executive updates.
- Communicate complex technical concepts in a clear, concise and business-focused manner.
- Manage third-party vendors, service providers and implementation partners to ensure successful delivery outcomes.
- Influence stakeholders at all organisational levels and effectively manage competing priorities.
Financial & Governance Management
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, business cases and benefit realisation activities.
- Ensure compliance with technology governance, risk management and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare executive-level reporting, presentations and decision papers.
- Contribute to portfolio planning, prioritisation and roadmap development activities.
Leadership
- Demonstrate ownership, accountability and a strong delivery mindset.
- Promote best practices and continuous improvement across project delivery teams.
- Foster collaboration and alignment across global technology and business teams.
Required Experience & Qualifications
Project & Technology Delivery
- 10+ years of experience delivering complex technology and infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience managing enterprise-wide technology transformation initiatives.
- Demonstrated success delivering projects involving infrastructure, cloud, networking, cybersecurity, workplace technology, enterprise applications, operations or data centres.
- Strong understanding of technology operations, service management and operational resilience principles.
- Experience managing multiple workstreams, vendors and geographically distributed teams.
- Proven experience delivering projects using Agile, Waterfall and Hybrid methodologies, with the ability to select and tailor the most appropriate delivery approach based on project complexity, business requirements and risk profile.
- Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, solution design, architecture reviews, development, testing, release management, deployment and transition to support.
- Demonstrated experience managing the implementation of enterprise applications, SaaS solutions, system integrations, cloud platforms and infrastructure transformation initiatives.
- Ability to work effectively with architects, developers, infrastructure engineers, cybersecurity teams and business stakeholders to translate technical requirements into successful business outcomes.
Communication & Leadership
- Exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills.
- Strong executive presence with the confidence to present to senior leadership and steering committees.
- Exceptional ability to prepare and deliver executive presentations, steering committee updates and business communications that clearly articulate project progress, risks, decisions and business value.
- Proven ability to influence, negotiate and challenge constructively.
- Ability to communicate complex technical topics to non-technical audiences.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
Technical Knowledge
Good understanding of: Cloud Platforms (Azure, AWS), Enterprise Infrastructure, Networks, Cybersecurity, End User Computing, Data Centres, IT Operations and Service Management
Professional Certifications & Technical Proficiency
- PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, Scrum or equivalent certification.
- Experience using Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Project, Power BI and Microsoft 365.
Critical Success Factors
Communication, stakeholder management and executive presence are considered critical success factors for this role. The successful candidate will combine strong technology project delivery experience with exceptional communication, stakeholder management and executive engagement skills. They must be comfortable operating across both technical and business domains, able to challenge constructively, influence decision-making, and build credibility with engineers, senior leaders and executive stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will combine strong project management capability with a deep understanding of technology delivery, excellent business acumen, and the ability to influence and communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation.
