We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Environmental Officer to support the resort’s environmental operations and promote sustainable, compliant, and environmentally responsible practices across the property.
This role is responsible for monitoring environmental performance, supporting waste management and water-related operations, conducting environmental inspections, maintaining environmental records and documentation, and assisting with regulatory compliance and sustainability initiatives. The position will also support selected health, safety, emergency preparedness, and risk management activities as part of the resort’s overall HSE program.
Responsibilities
- Support daily environmental operations and initiatives across the property.
- Monitor compliance with applicable environmental regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
- Conduct regular environmental inspections across the property and identify environmental risks, hazards, and areas for improvement.
- Monitor waste segregation, storage, collection, disposal, and waste reduction practices across the property.
- Assist in monitoring water quality, clean and potable water systems, wastewater treatment processes, and related environmental parameters.
- Support environmental monitoring, data collection, analysis, and reporting for the property.
- Assist in ensuring proper environmental documentation, records, permits, reports, and regulatory submissions are maintained accurately and on time.
- Support environmental audits, inspections, certification processes, and regulatory compliance activities.
- Assist in implementing environmental management systems, procedures, SOPs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support sustainability programs and initiatives related to waste reduction, energy and water conservation, resource efficiency, and environmental awareness.
- Assist with environmental risk assessments, incident investigations, corrective actions, and follow-up activities where required.
- Support fire & life safety, emergency response, and business continuity programs as part of the property’s overall HSE framework.
- Assist in conducting environmental awareness programs, training sessions, toolbox meetings, and sustainability-related initiatives.
- Maintain accurate environmental reports, inspection checklists, monitoring records, and other related documentation.
- Collaborate with various departments to promote responsible environmental practices and strengthen the property’s environmental culture.
- Report environmental concerns, incidents, non-compliance, and improvement opportunities to the Head of HSE.
- Perform other environmental and HSE-related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Engineering, Public Health, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in environmental management, environmental operations, HSE, EHS, sustainability, or a related role.
- Previous experience as an Environmental Officer, Environmental Engineer, Environmental Specialist, HSE Officer, EHS Officer, Sustainability Officer, or in a similar position.
- Experience in environmental monitoring, waste management, water and wastewater management, environmental compliance, sustainability, or environmental operations, preferably within hospitality, resorts, facility management, integrated resorts, or large commercial properties.
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, waste management, environmental monitoring, water quality, wastewater management, pollution prevention, and environmental compliance.
- Basic understanding of clean and potable water treatment processes, water quality monitoring, and wastewater treatment processes is required.
- Experience supporting environmental inspections, audits, environmental risk assessments, regulatory reporting, SOPs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with ISO 14001 and environmental management systems is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with ISO 45001, HACCP, fire & life safety, and local HSE regulations is an advantage.
- Knowledge of sustainability practices, waste reduction, resource efficiency, and environmental conservation is an advantage.
- Experience in supporting or conducting environmental awareness programs, sustainability initiatives, and cross-functional environmental activities.
- Strong coordination, communication, documentation, analytical, and reporting skills.
- Detail-oriented with good observation, problem-solving, and data analysis skills.
- Hospitality or resort experience is highly preferred. Candidates from environmental consulting, manufacturing, facility management, large commercial properties, mixed-use developments, airports, healthcare, utilities, or multinational organizations with transferable environmental experience are also encouraged to apply.
- AKL/AK3 Lingkungan, Ahli Lingkungan, ISO 14001, NEBOSH, IOSH, or other relevant environmental/HSE certifications are an advantage.
