We are looking for an experienced Head of Regulatory Compliance to lead regulatory governance and compliance across a digital lending business. This senior leadership role requires deep expertise in RBI regulations, NBFC compliance, digital lending guidelines, regulatory inspections, and compliance framework development.
The ideal candidate will combine strong regulatory knowledge with sound commercial judgement, ensuring that business growth, product innovation, and operational expansion remain aligned with applicable regulatory requirements. The role offers an opportunity to build and scale a robust compliance function while working closely with senior leadership, the Board, regulators, and cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end compliance with RBI regulations applicable to NBFCs, digital lending businesses, and lending partnerships.
- Act as the primary point of contact for RBI communications, inspections, supervisory reviews, audits, and information requests.
- Monitor regulatory developments, circulars, master directions, and supervisory expectations, translating them into actionable business requirements.
- Establish and maintain a comprehensive regulatory compliance framework, including policies, controls, monitoring programs, and governance structures.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of regulatory returns, filings, certifications, and compliance reports.
- Build, develop, and lead the compliance function, including hiring, mentoring, and managing the compliance team.
- Implement scalable compliance processes, automation, and technology-enabled monitoring capabilities.
- Partner with Product, Business, Credit, Risk, Operations, Technology, and Customer Experience teams to integrate compliance into product development and business operations.
- Conduct regulatory assessments for new products, lending programs, partnerships, customer journeys, and process changes.
- Evaluate compliance requirements relating to customer onboarding, collections, outsourcing, third-party arrangements, and digital lending platforms.
- Lead RBI inspections, regulatory audits, thematic examinations, and supervisory reviews, ensuring effective preparation and timely resolution of observations.
- Coordinate internal audits, compliance assessments, control testing, and remediation programs.
- Establish a structured regulatory change management process to ensure policies, procedures, and controls remain aligned with evolving requirements.
- Provide regular compliance updates, risk assessments, and regulatory insights to senior leadership and Board-level committees.
- Build credible relationships with regulators, industry bodies, and external stakeholders.
- Advise business leaders on regulatory risks and provide practical solutions that balance compliance obligations with commercial objectives.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- 10+ years of experience in regulatory compliance within NBFCs, fintechs, banks, digital lending platforms, or other regulated financial institutions.
- Strong hands-on experience with RBI-regulated lending businesses.
- Proven experience managing RBI inspections, regulatory audits, supervisory reviews, and regulator interactions.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and scale compliance frameworks in a growing organisation.
- Strong understanding of RBI regulations for NBFCs, including Scale Based Regulation.
- Expertise in Digital Lending Guidelines, Fair Practices Code, Outsourcing Guidelines, and KYC/AML/CFT requirements.
- Familiarity with co-lending arrangements, Lending Service Provider (LSP) and Digital Lending App (DLA) models, grievance redressal, and the Ombudsman framework.
- Understanding of credit information reporting, regulatory filings, IT governance, cybersecurity, and data privacy, including the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to build teams, establish processes, and drive organisational accountability.
- Commercially pragmatic approach, with the ability to provide clear regulatory guidance that supports business growth.
- Strong judgement, integrity, independence, and the confidence to challenge senior stakeholders when necessary.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, including the ability to engage with regulators, the Board, and cross-functional teams.
- Graduate or postgraduate qualification in Law, Commerce, Finance, or a related discipline. CA, CS, LLB, MBA, or an equivalent professional qualification is preferred.
