Make a meaningful difference with us

We’re looking for someone who wants to make the world a little better through small moments that leave big impacts. To build meaningful relationships and make a difference in the lives of others.

As a Grief and Loss Practice and Education Lead, you will play a meaningful role in strengthening the way UnitingCare supports people through grief, loss and bereavement. In this flexible, two-day-per-week role, you’ll design and deliver engaging training, presentations and program materials for facilitators, volunteers and clients. You’ll help keep our approach contemporary, compassionate and grounded in best practice, drawing on your professional experience and personal insight to create safe, supportive learning experiences that make a real difference.

Please note, this position is Part Time Permanent – 2 days per week. Flexibility is important to us, and we know it is to you, too - this role supports hybrid working by agreement.

Your part in our UnitingCare team:

  • Design, develop and review grief and loss curriculum, training resources and program materials to ensure they remain current, relevant and aligned with contemporary practice.

  • Facilitate and co-deliver engaging workshops, presentations and learning sessions for facilitators, volunteers, clients and other stakeholders across Queensland.

  • Support compliance requirements for new and existing Grief and Loss facilitators and volunteers, helping ensure safe, consistent and quality program delivery.

  • Research emerging trends, evidence-based approaches and sector developments to contribute fresh ideas and continuous improvement across the Grief and Loss program.

  • Provide compassionate pastoral care, guidance and support where required, creating safe and respectful spaces for people impacted by grief and loss.

What makes a difference for us?

  • Confidence to meet relevant probity, legislative and organisational compliance requirements, including but not limited to current driver licence, NDIS Worker Screening, working rights and a Nationally Coordinated Police Check.

  • Demonstrated experience in grief, loss, bereavement, pastoral care, education, training, facilitation or a closely related field.

  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences in both small and large group settings.

  • Confidence developing, reviewing and evaluating training resources, program materials and online learning content.

  • A contemporary understanding of grief, loss, bereavement and end-of-life experiences, supported by a commitment to ongoing professional learning and supervision.

  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with empathy, professionalism and the ability to build trusted relationships with clients, volunteers, facilitators and internal stakeholders.

  • Willingness to work flexibly, including remote or work-from-home arrangements, agreed days of work, occasional travel and out-of-hours attendance where required.
