The GHG Team Lead is a working supervisor within ENGINE who leads a team responsible for greenhouse gas emissions accounting, data collection, analysis, reporting, and verification support. This role oversees reporting quality, calculation consistency, documentation, assurance support, and workflow improvement for greenhouse gas reporting activities across supported businesses and functions. The Team Lead partners with health, safety, environment, operations, maintenance, engineering, digital, finance, supply chain, legal, and other stakeholders to strengthen data integrity and reporting controls. The role is accountable for team delivery, technical quality, prioritization, capability development, and continuous improvement of greenhouse gas reporting processes and tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • People leadership and capability development. Lead, coach, mentor, and develop greenhouse gas reporting analysts, setting clear expectations for technical quality, documentation, collaboration, and timely delivery.

  • Greenhouse gas reporting oversight. Oversee data collection, calculation, documentation, reporting, and verification support to help ensure greenhouse gas reporting is accurate, complete, timely, and aligned with applicable requirements.

  • Data quality and assurance. Establish quality review expectations for greenhouse gas data, calculations, reports, methodologies, procedures, and supporting documentation; ensure issues and gaps are tracked and resolved with stakeholders.

  • Stakeholder coordination. Coordinate with health, safety, environment, operations, maintenance, engineering, capital projects, digital, finance, supply chain, and legal stakeholders to support forecasting, accounting, reporting, verification, and data substantiation activities.

  • Tools and workflow improvement. Lead development and improvement of systems, dashboards, procedures, and tools used to track emissions, carbon intensity, performance metrics, reporting status, and supporting documentation.

  • Regulatory and corporate alignment. Guide the team in applying greenhouse gas accounting protocols, calculation methodologies, reporting standards, and emerging requirements in a consistent and practical manner.

  • Portfolio and action management. Prioritize team-work, steward key action items, and maintain visibility to reporting cycle commitments, risks, and dependencies.

  • Workflow Standardization: Team Leads are expected to actively drive efficiency improvements and encourage their teams to identify opportunities for standardization and automation. The objective is to ensure workflows are consistently executed, standardized across the team, and automated to the fullest extent possible to improve efficiency and sustainability.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, chemistry, engineering, data analytics, or a related field.

  • 7+ years of experience in environmental compliance, greenhouse gas accounting, emissions reporting, permitting, assurance, auditing, or regulatory reporting in oil and gas or comparable industrial operations.

  • Demonstrated experience leading, supervising, coordinating, or mentoring technical or analytical teams.

  • Strong understanding of greenhouse gas calculation methodologies, emissions inventories, assurance requirements, data substantiation expectations, and reporting standards.

  • Strong experience using Excel, Power BI, and other data analysis or reporting tools; experience with specialized environmental or greenhouse gas reporting software is beneficial.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and reporting deadlines while maintaining high attention to detail and documentation quality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in environmental science, engineering, chemistry, sustainability, or a related field.

  • Experience with Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions estimation, life cycle assessment, or product carbon footprinting.

  • Experience working with or in the oil and gas industry.

  • Experience using, developing, or improving environmental datasets, reporting processes, digital tools, and dashboards.

  • Knowledge of industry best practices, global standards, emerging regulations, and greenhouse gas reporting assurance expectations.

Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, supporting business requirements across the world. Accordingly, the work hours for employees will be aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week will be Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1.30pm to 10.30pm
