About you
Cromwell Property Group is seeking a Fund Accountant to join our Accounting team in Brisbane in a permanent position.
You have a strong foundation in fund, property or financial accounting and take pride in producing accurate, well-supported work. You can manage recurring close and reporting deadlines, investigate variances and reconciling items and explain accounting outcomes clearly to stakeholders.
You are analytical, organised and collaborative, with the initiative to identify practical improvements while maintaining strong financial controls.
You will bring:
A tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance.
Demonstrated experience in fund, property or financial accounting.
Experience preparing month-end accounts, journals, reconciliations and reporting schedules.
Strong Microsoft Excel capability and attention to detail.
Understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and fund financial reporting.
Understanding of investment property, trust and lease-related accounting, together with working knowledge of GST and BAS requirements.
Clear communication, effective prioritisation and a responsive approach to stakeholder service.
CA or CPA qualification, or progress toward qualification, is desirable. Experience with managed funds, third-party reporting or property and fund systems such as Yardi would also be beneficial.
About the role
Reporting to the Fund Accounting Manager, you will prepare and maintain accurate asset, entity and fund accounting for an allocated portfolio of managed funds, co-investments or third-party mandates.
You will contribute across month-end, management and external reporting, statutory reporting, audit and distribution accounting, with clear ownership of the accuracy and timeliness of your allocated accounting outputs.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Preparing monthly accounts for allocated fund assets, trusts and related entities.
Reviewing asset Net Operating Income and preparing supported accruals, prepayments, lease incentive, lease cost and other journals.
Completing fund and entity reconciliations and resolving or escalating reconciling items.
Preparing management accounts, variance analysis and reporting for Funds Management and external mandate stakeholders.
Preparing GST and BAS workpapers, statutory reporting schedules, financial statement support and audit evidence.
Preparing distribution accounting schedules, reconciliations and approved payment instructions through the agreed workflow.
Supporting acquisitions, disposals, new mandates and product changes through accurate journals and reporting schedules.
Participating in system testing and identifying improvements to accounting accuracy, timeliness and service delivery.
This role offers broad exposure across the accounting lifecycle of managed funds and property-related entities within an integrated real estate investment business.
