Job Description:

Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a Flight Test Instrumentation Engineer – Gas & Particle Sensing Systems (w/m) to join our Flight Test Department based in Toulouse, France.

You will be part of a team developing, verifies and supports all instrumentation for laboratory and flight test installations for all aircraft programs. As part of the "Physical Measurements" team you will be involved/in charge in the development and support of aeronautical instrumentation for gas and particulate sensors, including the metrological control of managed components. We are looking for an engineer focused on the design, integration, and execution of gas and particulate detection systems for upcoming flight test campaigns. This role bridges the gap between instrumentation for physicochemical measurements, aerospace hardware design, data acquisition and processing. In this role, you will be responsible for the entire lifecycle, from sensor design to the integration of gas and particulate sensors onto our flight test platform.

Your challenges: 

• Analyze needs, define design specifications, prototype, and assemble of gas and particulate sensors using robust technologies capable of surviving flight applications.

• Develop, maintain, and automate laboratory test benches to characterize sensor performance.
• Master data acquisition and processing via LabVIEW, MATLAB, or Python.
• Manage interactions with numerous internal and external stakeholders: design offices, architects, test specialists, flight test engineers, teams from other Airbus Group entities, global suppliers, start-ups, research laboratories, and universities.

Your boarding pass:

• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Physical Measurements.
• ring or Physical measurements speciality.
• Practical experience using test benches, including wiring, bench calibration, and preparation of sensors/analyzers for testing.
• Experience in writing test plans, data display and processing with knowledge of digital signal processing, and production of test result reports.
• Competency in physicochemical measurements, including knowledge of metrology.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are essential, along with fluency in French.

• Strong problem-solving and, with the ability to adapt to change in a dynamic environment and flight test context.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

This position requires being eligible to security, Export Control and Military clearances by the recognized authorities.
