As a Field Technician, you'll play a key role in maintaining and repairing medical devices, supporting customers, and ensuring our equipment meets the highest quality and safety standards.
This is a 12-month fixed-term contract, with option for prolongation.
What will you be doing?
- Repair and maintain Smith+Nephew equipment in line with internal procedures, corporate guidelines, and relevant industry standards.
- Perform preventative maintenance (PM) activities for customers with service contracts, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
- Complete training and certification programs to become qualified to service equipment across multiple product franchises.
- Carry out precision instrument servicing, including working under a microscope and sharpening surgical instruments.
- Support the wider Service Engineering team in delivering and managing the preventative maintenance program.
- Manage personal inventory levels, perform scheduled stock cycle counts, and contribute to effective inventory control.
- Assist Operations Leads and Service Coordinators with inventory management activities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, hospital staff, and internal sales teams.
- Ensure service activities are completed efficiently, on time, and in a cost-effective manner.
- Meet and exceed individual performance targets and key performance indicators (KPIs).
What will you need to be successful?
- Previous experience in a technical repair, maintenance, service, or field technician role.
- Experience working with precision instruments and performing detailed tasks under a microscope.
- Ability to repair, maintain, and service equipment in line with internal, corporate, and external standards.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage inventory and prioritize workload effectively.
- Customer-focused mindset with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
- Willingness to complete training and develop expertise across multiple product portfolios.
