Electrical Controls Engineer (Semiconductor / Atmospheric Solutions)

Job Description

WHAT YOU'LL DO: 

  • We are looking for an enthusiastic Electrical Engineer or Mechatronics Engineer eager to integrate into our culture and be a key team contributor.  This engineer will work with a team in the development of new generation controls solutions and engage in analyses of complex field and manufacturing challenges. The candidate will draw upon control and robotics theory to support our electrical drive designs, analyze and implement new motor applications, and contribute to servo control tuning. 

  • The candidate will apply knowledge of robot dynamics and kinematics, systems modeling, digital filtering and control theory to design motion control algorithms and tune/optimize parameters on robot hardware, characterize performance, stability, throughput, payload vibration, motor temperature, perform design verification testing, software configuration, and documentation/release. 

  • Responsible for ensuring proper documentation, consistent use of processes and systems, and engineering design standards are followed.  Must be capable of working collaboratively with mechanical and software engineers on complete product solutions. 

  • In a typical week, the priorities for the individual and the team are defined in our on-line project system.  Long-term development projects will progress, a question or issue may arise from a customer or from our operations team requiring a quick investigation and response, input at multiple design reviews may be given, and hands on prototyping or testing may be done in our labs. 

WHAT YOU'LL BRING: 

  • BSEE with 4+ years of experience, or MSEE with 2+ years of experience.

  • Knowledge of control theory, dynamic systems, robotics theory, vibration analysis. 

  • Including but not limited to related coursework, experience or research in controls, dynamic systems, or robotics. 

  • Experience in FOC and BLDC controls. 

  • Strong knowledge of electromechanical systems, including motors, actuators, sensors, electronics, and microcontrollers. 

  • Competency in MATLAB (controls toolboxes a plus, object–oriented preferred). 

  • Spice modeling and analysis, or equivalent. 

  • Component selection and data sheet interpretation. 

  • Handy in the use of standard lab equipment and tools. 

  • Prototyping and debugging circuits in a lab. 

  • Standard Windows applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). 

  • Occasional travel, <5%. 

  • Ability to learn complex systems quickly and work independently. 

  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. 

  • Strong technical communication and presentation skills. 

  • Competency in Altium preferred. 

Compensation

Base Salary Range: $110,621.72 USD to $149,664.68 USD

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
