About the Opportunity

Albireo Energy is investing aggressively in its Mission Critical business, with data centers representing one of the company’s largest and fastest-growing areas of opportunity. We are seeking a Director of Operations to help lead and scale this business during an exciting period of growth.

This is a high-impact leadership role for an experienced operations executive who understands the demands of mission critical environments and can translate that expertise into exceptional execution, talent development, operational discipline, and sustainable growth.

The Director of Operations will lead a geographically dispersed organization, build and develop high-performing teams, and establish the operational infrastructure needed to scale the business without creating unnecessary bureaucracy. This leader will have significant opportunity to shape the organization, build leadership capacity, strengthen technical delivery, and influence how Albireo Energy serves data center owners, operators, and partners.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Talent Development

• Lead a geographically dispersed team across a rapidly growing business.
• Recruit, hire, onboard, and develop the talent required to support continued growth.
• Build a strong leadership bench and actively develop future leaders within the organization.
• Establish clear expectations, accountability, and performance standards while maintaining an engaging and collaborative culture.
• Effectively manage people, organizational dynamics, and conflict with maturity and sound judgment.
• Create an environment where high performers can grow their capabilities and assume increasing leadership responsibility.

Operational Excellence & Scale

• Develop and implement scalable operating processes that support rapid growth while preserving flexibility and entrepreneurial speed.
• Establish consistent execution standards without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
• Drive operational discipline across projects, teams, and geographies.
• Continuously identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, customer experience, and profitability.
• Develop effective resource-planning practices to ensure the right people, skills, and capacity are aligned with business demand.
• Navigate ambiguity and changing priorities while maintaining focus on business objectives and execution.

Mission Critical & Technical Leadership

• Bring deep industry knowledge and technical credibility to the organization, with data center and mission critical experience strongly preferred.
• Leverage firsthand experience executing data center or other mission critical projects and operating within demanding mission critical environments.
• Understand the unique requirements of data center customers, including uptime, safety, schedule, quality, reliability, and operational risk.
• Provide leadership and technical perspective to project and delivery teams.
• Build strong relationships with owners, operators, providers, and other industry stakeholders.

Financial & Business Management

• Manage the financial performance of a project-based business, including forecasting, resource utilization, margins, and overall operational performance.
• Partner with project and business leaders to ensure disciplined financial management and execution.
• Balance growth objectives with profitability, capacity, quality, and customer commitments.
• Develop the operational infrastructure and management practices necessary to scale the business sustainably.

Safety & Execution

• Champion a strong safety culture and ensure safety remains a fundamental component of every aspect of operations.
• Maintain a calm, thoughtful, and decisive leadership presence, particularly in high-pressure situations.
• Establish a culture of ownership, urgency, accountability, and follow-through.
• Ensure teams consistently deliver against commitments while maintaining the high standards required in mission critical environments.

Executive & External Leadership

• Demonstrate strong executive presence in internal and external meetings, communicating effectively with senior leaders, customers, partners, and industry stakeholders.
• Represent Albireo Energy professionally at industry seminars, conferences, networking events, and customer engagements.
• Build trusted relationships with senior customer and industry leaders.
• Communicate complex operational and technical issues clearly and confidently to both technical and executive audiences.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is an experienced operations leader who combines industry expertise, strong people leadership, financial acumen, and exceptional execution discipline.

Required / Preferred Qualifications

• 5–10+ years of experience leading large, geographically dispersed teams, with increasing levels of operational responsibility.
• Demonstrated experience leading operations in the BAS/HVAC controls industry, with data center experience strongly preferred.
• Direct experience executing data center projects and/or working within data center operations.
• Proven ability to hire, build, and scale high-performing teams.
• Demonstrated success developing leaders and building organizational capacity.
• Strong experience managing people, organizational dynamics, and conflict.
• Experience managing the financial performance of projects and/or a project-based business.
• Demonstrated ability to scale operations while maintaining execution quality and accountability.
• Strong resource-planning and capacity-management skills.
• A track record of continuous improvement and process optimization.
• Strong execution discipline and the ability to standardize processes without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
• Ability to operate effectively in ambiguity and rapidly changing environments.
• Strong technical credibility and understanding of mission critical infrastructure and operations.
• Calm, composed, and decisive under pressure.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety and operational excellence.
• Excellent communication skills and strong executive presence.

Salary: $250,000-$285,000 base + bonus
