Job Description:

Client-facing expert in a wide range of legal, tax, estate and financial planning tools and processes. Role partners with Estate & Financial Planning Services (EFPS) team, Advisors and other experts in providing advanced planning strategies to Clients. Supports EFPS and Advisors with solutions that drive sales and utilization of the full range of Sun Life solutions. The role will also provide education to EFPS, Advisors, and sales teams as a subject matter expert.

What will you do?

• Promote and deliver effective advanced tax, legal, estate and financial planning expertise and advice to EFPS and sales teams.
• Participation in joint field work with EFPS and Advisors working with Clients and their own allied professionals (accountants and lawyers) to identify and promote potential tax and financial planning opportunities related to their estate planning, wealth planning, risk management planning, and business succession and continuation planning.
• Actively participates in and resolves cases identified and advanced from EFPS and Advisors, applying expertise in devising sound Client solutions, working directly with EFPS and Advisors as needed - including case research and direct Client interaction. 
• Build EFPS and Advisor capability through seminars, workshops, and presentations on advanced financial planning topics.
• Deliver and promote sales tools that support Sun Life’s products, proprietary financial planning concepts, and specialty needs analyses.
• Deliver Client seminars and associated materials.
• Keep current through research and participation in industry profile building activities.
• Participate as an active member of the Financial Planning Centre of Excellence, sharing knowledge and insight with others, and contributing to the ongoing development of effective processes and tools through thought-leadership activities.

Shared Accountabilities:

• Driving large/complex insurance case business – shared with Insurance Sales Directors and Business Growth teams.
• Technical content and education in Sun Life – shared with the other Business Growth departments, Insurance Distribution, and the Insurance Tax Solutions team

What do you need to succeed?

• Strong knowledge of personal and corporate tax and financial planning executive remuneration, charitable giving, wills, estate and trusts, and the dynamics of business and succession planning.
• Excellent understanding of industry trends and their implication on achieving business objectives.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Strong communication skills, including facilitation, training, influencing, and presenting complex topics in an understandable manner.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• CPA, LL.B., M. Tax or FCIA designation
• University degree or equivalent business experience
• 7 years financial services experience
• CFP® or Pl. fin. considered an asset

Compensation:

Please note that this role includes an incentive plan and total compensation that could well exceed the salary range posted.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
