What is the Job?

At Montu, every prescription represents a patient waiting for treatment that can make a genuine difference to their quality of life.

Our pharmacy processes over 50,000 prescriptions each month, with continued month-on-month growth of approximately 10%. As our operation continues to scale, the Deputy Superintendent Pharmacist will work in close partnership with the Superintendent Pharmacist across all areas of clinical and regulatory governance.

You will take a leading role in the day-to-day clinical operation of the pharmacy, providing specialist regulatory expertise in Schedule 2 Controlled Drugs, supporting professional standards and ensuring patient safety remains central to everything we do.

You will provide clear clinical and regulatory guidance, identify and manage risks, support inspections and audits, and contribute to the ongoing development of our pharmacy systems, processes and governance frameworks.

You will also deputise for the Superintendent Pharmacist when required, helping to balance the demands of a high-volume pharmacy operation with the professional, legal and regulatory standards expected of us.

  • Act as a specialist in Schedule 2 Controlled Drugs regulation, working alongside the Superintendent Pharmacist to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.

  • Oversee appropriate systems and controls for the safe storage, handling, dispensing, recording and management of Controlled Drugs.

  • Ensure accurate, auditable records are maintained, with effective monitoring and reconciliation processes.

  • Identify and address potential compliance risks, incidents and discrepancies.

  • Support the development of Controlled Drugs governance processes that remain effective as prescription volumes increase.

Professional Leadership and Team Development

  • Provide clinical leadership alongside the Superintendent Pharmacist to a pharmacy workforce of over 100 colleagues.

  • Support the implementation of pharmacy technology, automation and system improvements.

  • Ensure appropriate governance is maintained when introducing new processes, technologies and services.

  • Work closely with operational teams to balance prescription volumes, service delivery and regulatory requirements.

Strategy and Business Growth

  • Work alongside the Superintendent Pharmacist, General Manager of Pharmacy, Medical Director and senior leadership team to support the clinical and regulatory strategy.

  • Provide regulatory expertise when evaluating new services, products and business opportunities.

  • Support regulatory readiness for pharmacy expansion and operational growth.

  • Help develop scalable governance frameworks that support increasing prescription volumes.

  • Contribute to decisions relating to pharmacy systems, technology and automation.

  • Ensure regulatory considerations remain central to business planning and operational decision-making.

Who Are We Looking For?

This role requires someone who can see the bigger picture. You will understand the importance of operational performance, commercial awareness and business growth, while ensuring patient safety and regulatory compliance are never compromised.

You will be comfortable joining a growing business, building relationships across teams and bringing fresh perspectives to the way we work. Above all, we are looking for someone who leads by example, communicates effectively, remains calm under pressure and has the confidence to challenge, influence and make informed decisions.

What Experience Will You Need?
