Deputy Manager – Treasury Payment Operations

Role Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically strong Deputy Manager – Treasury Payment Operations to support and execute treasury payment activities across the organization. This role is primarily a hands-on operational and technical role, responsible for managing payment processing, banking transactions, controls, reconciliations, and treasury systems support.

The ideal candidate will have solid experience in treasury operations, payment execution, bank connectivity, controls, and process improvement, with the ability to work independently in a high-volume, control-focused environment. This role requires a strong execution mindset, accuracy, and the ability to troubleshoot operational and system-related issues in treasury payment processes.

Key Responsibilities

Treasury Payment Operations

• Execute daily treasury payment activities including domestic and international payments, intercompany transfers, vendor payments, payroll-related funding, tax payments, and other banking transactions.
• Ensure timely and accurate processing of payments in line with internal policies, approval matrices, and banking cut-off timelines.
• Monitor payment queues, transaction statuses, bank acknowledgments, and exceptions to ensure smooth execution.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders and banking partners to resolve payment rejections, returned transactions, and settlement issues.

Banking and System Execution

• Operate treasury and banking platforms for payment creation, validation, release support, and status tracking.
• Manage bank portals, host-to-host files, payment uploads, and related transaction processing activities.
• Support bank account operations, signatory documentation, user access administration, and maintenance of banking master data where required.
• Troubleshoot payment file issues, format errors, connectivity issues, and system-related exceptions in coordination with IT, treasury systems teams, and banks.

Controls, Compliance, and Risk Management

• Ensure all treasury payments are processed in compliance with internal control requirements, delegated authority, audit expectations, and regulatory requirements.
• Perform maker/checker control activities as applicable within the approved operating model.
• Maintain strong audit trails and documentation for payment processing, approvals, exceptions, and supporting records.
• Identify control gaps, operational risks, and process weaknesses, and proactively recommend corrective actions.

Reconciliation and Reporting

• Perform daily bank reconciliations and validate payment postings, cash movements, and transaction settlements.
• Investigate unmatched entries, failed payments, duplicate transactions, and other exceptions in a timely manner.
• Prepare treasury operations reports, payment trackers, exception logs, bank fee analysis, and KPI dashboards as required.
• Support month-end and quarter-end treasury reporting activities related to payments and bank transactions.

Process Improvement and Technical Support

• Drive continuous improvement in treasury payment processes through standardization, automation, and control enhancement.
• Participate in implementation and enhancement of treasury systems, payment workflows, bank integrations, and file format changes.
• Support UAT testing, process documentation, SOP creation, and issue resolution for treasury payment-related projects.
• Use data and operational insights to improve accuracy, turnaround time, and operational efficiency.

Stakeholder Management

• Work closely with Treasury, Finance, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Tax, IT, Internal Audit, Compliance, and banking partners.
• Provide operational support and timely updates on payment status, issues, and resolution.
• Act as a dependable subject matter resource for treasury payment operations and related process queries.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration, or related field.
• Relevant experience in treasury operations, banking operations, or payment operations.
• Strong understanding of domestic and cross-border payment processes, bank platforms, and treasury controls.
• Experience working with ERP/TMS/bank payment systems and payment file handling.
• Good knowledge of bank reconciliations, cash movement controls, and operational risk management.
• Strong working knowledge of Excel and payment-related reporting.
• High attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to work under tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in shared services, global treasury operations, or multinational environment.
• Familiarity with SWIFT payments, bank connectivity models, host-to-host payment files, and treasury management systems.
• Exposure to SAP, Oracle, Kyriba, FIS, Quantum, or similar treasury/payment platforms.
• Knowledge of payment governance, sanctions screening workflows, and compliance controls.
