The Staff Data Platform Governance and Compliance Lead is responsible for driving the implementation and ongoing operations of Danaher’s Enterprise Data Platform governance, data quality, and compliance framework. This role establishes and enforces policies, standards, and controls across Snowflake, Matillion, dbt, Airflow, and Azure — ensuring that enterprise data assets are properly classified, secured, documented, and audit-ready in alignment with SOX, SOC 1/2, GxP, and applicable global data privacy regulations (GDPR, India DPDP Act, HIPAA). The role partners closely with Data Engineering, Platform Operations, Security, Internal Audit, and OpCo data stewards to embed governance into day-to-day operations.
This position reports to the Director – Data Platform and Operations and is part of the Enterprise Data Engineering team located in Bengaluru, India and will work from Bengaluru IDC office.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Lead Enterprise Data Governance and Access Management by operationalizing data governance frameworks, including data classification, ownership/stewardship, lineage, metadata standards, RBAC reviews, role recertification, masking and row-access policies, data sharing governance, Internal Marketplace controls, and least-privilege enforcement across Snowflake, Matillion, dbt, Airflow, and Azure data services.
Drive Audit, Risk, and Compliance Readiness by leading evidence collection and control execution for SOX (ITGCs and application controls), SOC 1/2, GxP, internal audits, access reviews, segregation of duties, change management controls, Customer User Entity Controls (CUECs), and continuous control monitoring across DEV, TEST, and PROD environments.
Establish Data Quality and Data Product Governance Standards through quality SLAs, validation rules, freshness and quality monitoring, metadata management, and Data Product onboarding frameworks, partnering closely with Data Engineering and Data Strategy teams to ensure trusted, scalable data assets.
Partner Across Privacy, Legal, and Security Functions to operationalize global regulatory requirements and data protection obligations, including GDPR, HIPAA, and the India DPDP Act, support data subject requests, oversee cross-border data transfer compliance, and ensure governance controls align with enterprise risk and security requirements.
Build and Scale Governance Operations by leading a governance pod of data stewards, governance analysts, and vendor partners; developing governance playbooks, standard operating procedures, control evidence templates, and repeatable governance processes that enable sustainable compliance, audit readiness, and enterprise-wide data governance adoption
The essential requirements of the job include:
- 6+ years of progressive experience in data governance, data compliance, IT audit, or information risk management, with at least 3 years in an enterprise data platform or cloud data environment.
- Hands-on knowledge of governance and compliance for cloud data platforms - Snowflake (RBAC, masking/row-access policies, Horizon governance), Matillion, dbt, and Microsoft Azure.
- Demonstrated experience supporting SOX (IT General Controls), SOC 1/2, or GxP audits — including control design, evidence collection, walkthroughs, remediation, and CUEC implementation.
- Working knowledge of global data privacy regulations - GDPR, India DPDP Act, and at least one of HIPAA, CCPA, or equivalent - and ability to translate regulatory requirements into platform controls and operational procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Law, or a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:
Ability to travel up to 10% domestically and occasionally internationally for audit engagements, team meetings, and OpCo workshops.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Industry-recognized certifications such as CISA, CIPP/E, CDMP, SnowPro Core, or ISO 27001 Lead Auditor.
Hands-on use of enterprise data catalog and governance tooling — Microsoft Purview, Collibra, Alation, or Snowflake Horizon (object tagging, lineage, classification, access history).
Working in regulated life sciences, diagnostics, or biotechnology environments with exposure to GxP (GLP/GMP/GCP), 21 CFR Part 11, or equivalent quality standards.
