The [Plant Senior Accountant] is responsible for ensuring compliance with both US GAAP and statutory accounting standards. From a controllership perspective, this role provides operational and strategic support for plant operations and growth, including support for various localization projects, and requires collaboration across global shared services teams, audit partners (e.g., Ernst & Young), and cross-functional stakeholders.

This position reports to the China Plant Controller and is part of the Accounting / Controllership - Controllership located in Shanghai and will be an on-site role. 

What you will do:

Plant Controllership & Business Partnership

• Act as a finance partner close to the business, plant operations, and Supply Chain, translating accounting requirements into practical actions and timely decisions.
• Provide controllership support for manufacturing operations, growth initiatives, and localization projects across the China manufacturing entities within scope.
• Partner with plant leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to identify accounting risks, resolve issues, and improve transparency of financial results.

General Ledger Ownership & Financial Close

• Own assigned ledgers and balance sheet accounts, including the quality, completeness, and timeliness of journal entries, reconciliations, supporting documentation, and issue of resolution.
• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for the assigned manufacturing entities in compliance with US GAAP, statutory accounting requirements, company policies, and internal controls.
• Perform detailed balance sheet composition and fluctuation analyses, validate trial balances, and support Balance Sheet Review (BSR) activities.
• Monitor COE and shared-service teams to ensure open items, aged reconciling items, and accounting exceptions are resolved within agreed timelines; escalate recurring or high-risk matters when needed.

Supply Chain, Inventory & Fixed Asset Controllership

• Own and oversee Supply Chain-related accounting topics, with a particular focus on inventory, standard cost and manufacturing variances, reserves, fixed assets, and construction in progress.
• Partner with Supply Chain, Operations, and project teams to ensure appropriate accounting treatment, cut-off, capitalization, asset-in-service timing, inventory valuation, and reserve assessment.
• Review inventory and fixed-asset balance sheet positions, investigate unusual movements, and drive closure of reconciliation gaps and legacy items.

Internal Controls, Compliance & Audit

• Perform and coordinate key controllership and compliance activities, including BSR reviews, CSAQ assessments, segregation-of-duties evaluations, ASC 740 support, and other assigned control processes.
• Support internal and external audits, including coordination with audit partners, preparation of evidence, resolution of queries, and timely remediation of observations.
• Prepare required accounting, statutory, statistical, and ad hoc reports for relevant authorities and internal stakeholders within the entities in scope.

Process Excellence, AI & Automation

• Continuously assess current accounting and close processes to remove non-value-added steps, strengthen controls, standardize execution, and improve cycle time and reporting quality.
• Identify and implement practical AI-enabled and automation opportunities in areas such as account reconciliation, open-item follow-up, variance analysis, document review, recurring journal support, and management reporting.
• Use approved AI, analytics, ERP, and workflow tools responsibly, with appropriate human review, data protection, access controls, and documentation.
• Build repeatable solutions, measure benefits, share best practices, and support user adoption through clear procedures and training.

Cross-Functional & Global Collaboration

• Coordinate with COE, shared services, regional finance, Tax, Treasury, IT, Supply Chain, and plant teams to troubleshoot issues and clarify ownership across end-to-end processes.
• Contribute to global and regional finance initiatives, system changes, process harmonization, and continuous improvement projects using Danaher Business System principles.

Who you are:

• 5+ years of progressive experience in Controllership, Accounting, Audit, Commercial Finance, or Finance Operations.
• Experience in a multinational company environment is strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of revenue recognition, reserve accounting, US GAAP, and internal controls
• Experience leading cross-functional projects and process transformation initiatives.
• Proven ability to influence stakeholders across different functions and organizational levels.
• Experience with ERP systems (Oracle preferred), financial reporting tools, and data analytics.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
• Big Four, or plant/manufacturing finance experience is a plus.
