About Basis
Basis builds real agents that do real work in the real economy. Our agents operate for hours at a time, performing end-to-end work for some of the largest accounting firms in the world.
We recently raised $100M at >$1B valuation and are racing to deploy the most advanced applied ML at production scale.
Our investors include: Khosla Ventures (Keith Rabois & Vinod Khosla), Accel (Miles Clements), Google Ventures, Nat Friedman & Daniel Gross, Adam D'Angelo, Jeff Dean, Jack Altman, Noam Brown, Kyle Vogt, Amjad Masad, Clem Delangue and many other operators/technical leaders.
"Basis is on the frontier of building production-grade, long-horizon agents. They've pushed the limits of what we thought our models could do on real-world, economically valuable, complex accounting tasks. They've been a great collaborator in helping us shape what the future of agents looks like." — Prashant Mital, Applied AI Lead, OpenAI
What you'll be doing
Accountants are one of the most underserved audiences in business. They're on LinkedIn and X every day; they subscribe to newsletters, they listen to podcasts on the commute, and they care deeply about what their peers are doing. There's a real opportunity for Basis to become the content resource the profession relies on. That's what we're building, and this role leads the charge.
You'll work directly with our Head of Content and own the written side of everything we make. Social is core to the role, with LinkedIn and X as our focus today and room to expand as we learn where our audience spends time. You'll own our customer case studies end to end, interviewing the accountants and finance leaders using Basis and turning those conversations into the proof that carries the most weight in this industry. You'll write for the full range of people we serve, from CFOs and controllers running lean in-house finance teams to partners at the largest accounting firms in the country.
A growing share of that audience now starts their research inside an LLM; GEO is a core aspect of this role. You'll think about how our content earns visibility and citation in AI answers as deliberately as we think about what to publish, and you'll build that thinking into how we research, structure, and distribute everything we make.
You'll also help build marketing motions from zero to one for our sales team, creating the assets and programs that generate pipeline and help our team close. We have a fast-moving go-to-market org, so there's a lot of ground to cover.
Just as important is what we haven't built yet. Newsletters, podcasts, and formats nobody in this category has tried are on the table. You'll help decide what's worth testing, run those tests, read the results honestly, and scale what works. We treat content as a growth channel, which means every piece is an audience and pipeline lever, and the numbers matter as much as the craft.
You'll do all of this with AI as your operating environment. We run research, drafting, editing, repurposing, and asset production through it, and we expect you to build your own graphics, slides, and landing page copy rather than queue behind a designer. If you can describe it, you can ship it.
What you'll bring
Writing first. You're a genuinely strong writer who can research a topic, find the angle, and turn it around quickly without losing the craft.
Growth mindset. You think in audience, distribution, and compounding returns. You know which numbers matter for a piece of content and you can explain what changed and why.
GEO and search fluency. A working understanding of how content earns visibility and citation in AI assistants and search, and the instinct to structure what you write accordingly.
Customer storytelling. Comfort interviewing customers and turning a loose conversation into a tight, specific story that sells.
Voice range. The ability to write for a sophisticated, skeptical audience and sound different depending on who's reading, without ever sounding like a brand talking at them.
Social instinct. A sharp read on what's landing on LinkedIn and X, with specific creators and formats you can point to and explain.
AI fluency. Claude Code/Codex and tools like it are already part of how you work every day, and you can show how they changed your output rather than just that you've tried them.
Self-sufficiency. You build your own assets end to end and don't wait on anyone to ship.
0-1 mindset. Comfort building the content function and its processes from scratch, including the motions our sales team hasn't had yet.
Other non-negotiables:
5-7+ years of professional writing or content marketing experience
2+ years in-house at a company rather than agency or freelance
A portfolio that shows speed and range, not just polish
In person 5 days a week in our Flatiron office
What we'd love to see
Audience building: A newsletter, channel, or show you grew from zero, and the honest numbers behind it.
GEO and organic results: Work where you moved visibility in AI assistants or search, and a clear view of what actually drove it.
Case study craft: Customer stories you researched, interviewed, and wrote that a sales team used repeatedly.
Pipeline contribution: Content programs you can tie to qualified pipeline or closed revenue, not just traffic.
New channel experience: Hands-on work launching a newsletter, podcast, or live format and getting it to a real audience.
AI leverage: A system, workflow, or prompt library you built that let you produce like a larger team.
Accounting industry fluency: Familiarity with the accounting profession, its buyer personas across accounting firms and in-house finance teams, and the creators and publications people in it actually follow.
Zero ego.
What Success Looks Like
Content authority: Basis becomes the first name accountants and finance leaders think of when they're looking for something worth reading, watching, or listening to.
Discoverability: When a finance leader asks an AI assistant about AI in accounting, Basis is in the answer.
Audience growth: Followers, subscribers, and engagement climb steadily on LinkedIn and X, with a clear read on which content drove it.
A customer proof library: A steady stream of case studies exists across firm and in-house customers, and our AEs reach for them in live deals.
Pipeline impact: Content becomes a measurable source of qualified pipeline, with clear attribution from engagement through to revenue.
Channel expansion: We've tested into new channels with discipline, and at least one has earned a permanent place in the mix.
A compounding library: Every major piece of content produces a set of downstream assets, so output grows faster than effort.
