Job Description:

Position Purpose:


The Communications Officer will play a key role in strengthening World Vision Bangladesh’s visibility and impact within the Rohingya Crisis Response through strategic communications, compelling storytelling, and high-quality visual content.


The position will transform field realities into powerful narratives that showcase our commitment to child well-being and humanitarian response. The role combines creative content development, stakeholder engagement, and brand stewardship to effectively communicate World Vision's impact to diverse audiences, from local communities to global stakeholders.

 

The incumbent will develop and manage communication and marketing assets across digital, web, print, and other platforms; create concepts, layouts, graphics, publications, and visual content in collaboration with the BRCR team; ensure compliance with World Vision brand standards. The role will also support stakeholder and external engagement and national-level branding and communications initiatives; and identify and manage public information, reputational, and branding risks.

 

 

Key Deliverables:

  • Create compelling advocacy-focused content that demonstrates World Vision's impact through multimedia storytelling and strategic communications.
  • Build and nurture relationships with field teams, media, and stakeholders to facilitate effective content gathering and dissemination.
  • Ensure World Vision's brand integrity and messaging consistency across all communications materials while supporting capacity building initiatives.
  • Support World Vision's media engagement and external relations in Cox's Bazar to position the organisation as a leading humanitarian actor.
  • Provide timely and effective communications support during emergency responses and humanitarian interventions.
  • Make sure WVB quality desktop publication and design of innovative interactive products with the development of new graphic solutions; visual brand, design direction, and identity standards.
  • Develop or manage production of visual assets for World Vision, including graphics, photography and videography with quality editing skill.



Key Responsibilities:


  • Plan and execute field visits to capture compelling photos, videos, and stories that demonstrate program impact through advocacy-focused multimedia content.
  • Develop and maintain engaging content for digital channels, social media, and internal communications initiatives.
  • Manage and organise content archives and databases to ensure easy access and efficient resource utilisation.
  • Design and manage design concepts, hands-on design and art work (including illustrations) of all print communication materials including banners, posters leaflets, Wall calendar, Desk calendar, Diary, Annual report, Newsletter, Brochure, visiting card, WVB advertisement etc. and others as per as per WVI standards.
  • Source and collaborate with printing partners and other vendors on the production of all communication materials as needed, guiding projects through all phases of production, adhere to budgets, deadlines, and time constraints.
  • Support World Vision Bangladesh's media engagement in Cox's Bazar through press releases, media materials, and coverage monitoring.
  • Organize and coordinate press events, media briefings, and interview arrangements.
  • Maintain comprehensive media contact databases and prepare coverage analysis reports.
  • Monitor contextual issues and potential reputational risks, developing appropriate response messaging.
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders to ensure aligned communication strategies.
  • Provide photographic coverage of all public events organized & supported by WV.
  • Photos and Video footages taken for support office requirements WV clients and stakeholders.
  • Create and maintain photo library accessible to all staff to upload and download photos for presentation and reports.
  • Develop and share short case studies/transformational success stories with support offices, WV clients, and stakeholders.
  • Create visually compelling presentations and support production of advocacy/marketing collateral, including info graphics, memes, videos, and photos.
  • Undertake field visits as appropriate to document the implementation of project activities with the ‘communications lens’ to ensure visibility and sharing of best practices.
  • Develop and implement project-specific communication plans and content calendars.
  • Design and produce print materials, publications, and factsheets while ensuring World Vision branding and style compliance.
  • Create monthly management reports using compiled project data.
  • Maintain communications equipment and resources.
  • Build staff capacity through training in story-telling, photography, and videography.
  • Ensure World Vision Branding (Logo use, colour, fonts, size etc.) in all communications of WVB.
  • Undertake periodic field visits to field offices to provide advice and guidance to the outreach and visibility components and share knowledge and best practices.
  • Monitor the public information aspects of managing branding and/or reputational risks.
  • Deploy to the field at short notice as part of rapid response teams to document emergency situations through photos, videos, and stories.
  • Prepare and distribute time-sensitive communications including situation reports, fire alerts, and WV Relief content during crisis situations.
  • Ensure photo and video footage during disaster response.
  • Ensure editing for all kinds of video production and video footages for disaster response.
  • Perform additional emergency response duties as required by management

Knowledge, Skill & Experience:

Required Education, training, license, registration, and/or Certification:


  • Bachelor in Mass Communications/Journalism or equivalent
  • Preferer Masters in Mass Communications/Journalism or equivalent
  • University degree or Diploma in graphic design from a recognized institution with training in computer applications and design would be an added advantage.

  • Minimum two (2) years of practical experience working in communications and/or media field.
  • Advanced skills in visual design tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or layout tools like Canva to create brand-compliant infographics, social media graphics, brochures, and field reports.
  • Proficiency in DSLR camera operations, framing, audio capture, and field lighting. Ability to capture Photography and Video for document visual stories and case studies.
  • Skill in non-linear editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro) to produce short video pieces, impact stories, and social clips.
  • In-depth knowledge of and application of MS Office Software (MS PowerPoint, Word, Adobe Acrobat, etc.) and MS Teams.
  • Proficiency with AI-driven communication, design, or productivity tools is a strong plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
  • Empathetic, creative, and out-of-the-box thinker.
  • Good command in English & Bengali, both written and verbal/ Professional Proficiency in both Bengali and English language.
  • Knowledge of Rohingya language/local context would be an advantage.
  • Up to 50% field visit is expected

  • Experience working in the non-profit or development sector.
  • Knowledge of humanitarian issues and development work.
  • Familiarity with World Vision's mission and operations.
  • Ability to speak the local dialect of Cox's Bazar and the Rohingya people.
  • Event management skills and media engagement.
  • Experience in photography, video shooting and editing, multimedia production.
  • Experience in data collection, analysis and use of child-focused information to produce behavioural change communication products.
  • Must be able to do multiple tasks and willingness to travel in various locations of BRCR as required.
