Your part in our St Andrews War Memorial Hospital team   
  

  • St Andrew's War Memorial Hospital is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Manager to provide clinical, operational and professional leadership across our Anaesthetics and Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) services. 

  • Leading a multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient and evidence-based patient care while driving operational excellence, workforce capability and continuous improvement across these critical perioperative services. 

  • Working collaboratively with medical specialists, perioperative leaders and multidisciplinary teams, you'll play a key role in delivering exceptional patient outcomes and supporting the ongoing growth and innovation of our perioperative service. 

  • A diverse role, you will: 

  • Lead and inspire multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional patient-centred care across Anaesthetics and PACU. 

  • Provide visible clinical leadership and foster a culture of professionalism, accountability and continuous learning. 

  • Support safe and efficient operational management of Anaesthetic and Recovery services. 

  • Drive workforce planning, recruitment, staff development, succession planning and employee engagement initiatives. 

  • Champion quality, safety and clinical governance through accreditation readiness, risk management and quality improvement activities. 

  • Monitor service performance, workforce utilisation and operational outcomes to identify opportunities for improvement. 

  • Collaborate with medical staff and hospital leaders to enhance patient experience and clinical outcomes. 

  • Lead service improvement, innovation and digital health initiatives that support best-practice perioperative care. 

  • Ensure effective resource allocation, budgeting and financial stewardship to meet service objectives 

 

What makes a difference for us?  

  • As an experienced Perioperative leader, you will demonstrate exceptional clinical expertise, a passion for people leadership and a commitment to driving excellence in patient care. 

  • You'll present with: 

  • Significant leadership experience within Anaesthetics, PACU or a perioperative environment. 

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in delivering contemporary, evidence-based patient care. 

  • Experience managing workforce planning, operational performance and service delivery within a complex healthcare environment. 

  • Strong knowledge of clinical governance, risk management, accreditation and quality improvement principles. 

  • Proven ability to lead change, influence stakeholders and drive positive service outcomes. 

  • Expertise in budget management, resource allocation and financial accountability. 

  • Excellent communication, collaboration and people leadership skills. 

  • Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent qualification and current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse. 

  • Evidence of ongoing professional development relevant to nursing leadership. 

 

Highly regarded: 

  • Post Graduate Qualification in Perioperative Nursing, Anaesthetics or Critical Care. 

  • Post Graduate Qualification in Leadership or Management. 

  • Experience leading large perioperative teams within a private hospital environment. 

  • Experience implementing service improvement, innovation or digital health initiatives. 

  • Experience with workforce management and clinical information systems including TrendCare, Kronos, Cerner or similar platforms.
