Job Summary
The Cafeteria Worker is responsible for providing excellent customer service while preparing, serving, and displaying food in a safe and sanitary manner. This role supports daily cafeteria operations by maintaining food quality, stocking supplies, operating a cash register, and ensuring a clean and welcoming dining environment. The Cafeteria Worker follows all food safety, sanitation, and organizational standards while contributing to an efficient and positive customer experience.

Essential Responsibilities
- Prepare, portion, and serve food and beverages according to established recipes, production schedules, and department standards.
- Provide courteous and professional customer service to patients, visitors, and staff.
- Operate cash register and food service equipment accurately and efficiently.
- Stock and replenish food, beverages, condiments, utensils, and supplies throughout service periods.
- Maintain attractive food displays and ensure products are properly labeled and presented.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection prevention procedures.
- Clean and sanitize workstations, equipment, serving areas, dining rooms, and storage areas.
- Monitor food temperatures and document required food safety records.
- Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating food and supplies using proper inventory practices.
- Transport food, supplies, and equipment as needed.
- Dispose of waste properly and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure efficient cafeteria operations and customer satisfaction.
- Follow departmental policies, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous food service, cafeteria, restaurant, retail, or customer service experience preferred.
- Basic cash handling, mathematics; addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division and point-of-sale experience preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively and provide excellent customer service.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices preferred.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to departmental requirements.

Working Conditions

Shift: 6:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
