In This Role

In this role, you will provide technical oversight of Building Automation Systems and controls engineering for large-scale, mission-critical facility projects. You will review BAS submittals, controls schematics, sequences of operations, points lists, network architecture, and other engineering deliverables to ensure designs meet technical specifications and established controls standards. You will work closely with mechanical, electrical, facility engineering teams, vendors, and system integrators throughout design, construction, and commissioning, helping resolve RFIs and field issues and tracking design comments through closure. You will also support testing and validation activities, document design changes and lessons learned, and contribute to consistent BAS and controls standards across a global portfolio of hyperscale facility projects. The role offers exposure to large-scale data center build-outs and collaboration with an experienced global engineering organization

Responsibilities

• Review BAS submittals, engineering deliverables, controls schematics, sequences of operations, points lists, panel and device schedules, riser diagrams, and network architecture documentation.
• Provide technical oversight for building automation and controls design across large-scale, mission-critical facility projects.
• Review designs for quality, specification compliance, consistency, and alignment with established controls engineering standards.
• Support construction and commissioning activities by reviewing drawings, developing and executing testing scripts, validating system performance, and resolving technical issues.
• Track design comments through package revisions and closure, ensuring no outstanding technical issues remain at approval.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, facility engineering teams, vendors, integrators, and other project stakeholders on design reviews, RFIs, field issues, and controls integration.
• Support hyperscale facility build-outs by reviewing BAS submittals and providing technical guidance throughout design, construction, and commissioning.
• Identify design risks and field issues and help drive timely technical resolution.
• Maintain documentation related to design changes, lessons learned, and controls engineering standards.
• Help improve consistency and standardization of BAS and controls designs across a global portfolio of projects.
• Communicate design intent, technical findings, and review comments clearly to internal stakeholders, vendors, and system integrators.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of Building Automation Systems (BAS) engineering experience.
• 5+ years of mission-critical, data center, or critical-facility construction experience.
• 5+ years of experience with major DDC platforms.
• Hands-on experience designing, programming, commissioning, or supporting BAS/DDC environments.
• Experience reviewing controls engineering documentation, including:
  • Sequences of operations
  • Controls schematics
  • Points lists
  • BAS submittals
  • Network architecture diagrams
  • Panel and device schedules
• Experience supporting commissioning, testing, system validation, issue resolution, or field implementation.
• Strong working knowledge of BACnet and Modbus.
• Working knowledge of DDC and PLC control systems.
• Working knowledge of HVAC, mechanical, and electrical systems as they relate to controls integration.
• Experience working with vendors, integrators, engineering teams, and other project stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document technical findings and communicate design intent.
• Ability to collaborate across U.S. and APAC time zones, including occasional meetings outside standard U.S. working hours.
• Proficiency with relevant design/documentation tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and Visio.

Preferred Qualifications

• Controls engineering experience in mission-critical, data center, or other critical-facility environments.
• Experience supporting hyperscale data center design, construction, commissioning, or operations.
• Experience authoring, maintaining, or enforcing controls engineering standards across multiple projects.
• Familiarity with major DDC/BAS platforms and vendors, including:
  • Siemens
  • Johnson Controls
  • Honeywell
  • Automated Logic
• Previous experience working in a vendor, systems integrator, or consulting environment.
• Experience with global, multi-project engineering programs.
• Experience identifying lessons learned and incorporating them into future engineering standards and deployments.
• Experience reviewing technical deliverables for quality, consistency, and specification compliance.

Salary Range 

At Blueprint, we strive to offer competitive pay that reflects the value of our team members. Compensation for this role is influenced by a variety of factors, including skills, education, responsibilities, experience, and geographic market. For candidates based in Washington State, the anticipated salary range is $140000– $150000 USD annually.  Please note that we typically do not hire new employees at the top of the posted range. Actual starting pay will be determined based on experience, skills, and internal equity. The final salary and job title may vary depending on the selected candidate’s qualifications and could fall outside the stated range.
