The Associate Manager, Communications is responsible for developing and executing communications that inform, engage, and connect Pratt Miller employees while supporting the company’s brand, culture, strategic priorities, and business objectives. This role partners closely with marketing, executive leadership and cross-functional teams to translate business strategy and priorities into clear, compelling communications for internal and external audiences.
The successful candidate will be a strong writer and storyteller who can manage multiple priorities, build effective relationships across the organization, and move comfortably between strategic planning and hands-on execution. This position will also play a key role in supporting the development, preparation, communication, and ongoing reinforcement of the Pratt Miller strategic plan.
Essential Functions and Skills
Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Strategic Plan Development & Communications
- Partner with senior leadership to support the development, preparation, and communication of the Pratt Miller strategic plan.
- Coordinate the strategic planning process, including development of planning materials, meeting content, presentations, timelines, and supporting documentation.
- Work with business and functional leaders to gather, organize, and synthesize information used to develop and update strategic priorities, objectives, and initiatives.
- Translate strategic priorities and complex business information into clear, concise, and compelling communications for employees and other key stakeholders.
- Develop executive presentations, strategy summaries, talking points, leadership communications, and other materials used to communicate the strategic plan.
- Establish and maintain a communication approach that reinforces Pratt Miller's strategy throughout the year rather than limiting communication to the annual planning process.
- Partner with leaders to communicate progress against strategic priorities, key milestones, accomplishments, and changes in direction.
- Help employees understand how Pratt Miller's strategic priorities connect to business objectives, organizational initiatives, and their individual work.
- Maintain strategic planning materials and ensure key messages, priorities, terminology, and supporting content remain current and consistent.
- Support leadership meetings, strategy sessions, business reviews, and other forums used to develop, communicate, and monitor the strategic plan.
Internal & Employee Communications
- Develop and execute internal communication plans that support business priorities, organizational initiatives, and employee engagement.
- Create clear and engaging communications for employees, including company announcements, leadership messages, newsletters, intranet content, presentations, talking points, and other materials.
- Partner with HR and business leaders on communications related to employee programs, organizational initiatives, culture, recognition, and change.
- Support communications for company meetings, leadership events, employee events, and other internal forums.
- Identify opportunities to improve the effectiveness, consistency, and reach of employee communications.
- Maintain communication calendars and coordinate messaging across multiple functions and business areas.
- Help ensure employees receive timely, relevant information and understand how organizational priorities connect to their work.
Leadership & Executive Communications
- Partner with senior leaders to develop presentations, talking points, announcements, and other executive communications.
- Support executive communications associated with business strategy, organizational priorities, business performance, and significant company initiatives.
- Translate complex business or technical information into concise, audience-appropriate messaging.
- Provide communication guidance and recommendations to leaders and project teams.
- Maintain consistency in key organizational messages across leaders, functions, and communication channels.
Communications Planning & Execution
- Develop communication strategies and plans for key business initiatives and organizational changes.
- Manage communication projects from concept through execution, including timelines, stakeholder coordination, content development, review, and distribution.
- Establish appropriate communication channels and approaches based on audience and business needs.
- Track communication effectiveness and use employee feedback, engagement data, and communication metrics to recommend improvements.
- Maintain high standards for accuracy, quality, consistency, and professionalism across communications.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, English, Business, or a related field.
- Five or more years of progressive experience in corporate communications, internal communications, public relations, marketing communications, strategic planning support, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience developing communications for employees and senior leaders.
- Strong writing, editing, proofreading, presentation development, and storytelling skills.
- Experience managing multiple communication projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting corporate or business strategic planning processes.
- Experience preparing executive-level strategic plans, presentations, business reviews, or similar materials.
- Experience working in an engineering, technology, defense, automotive, manufacturing, or similarly technical environment.
- Experience supporting organizational change and employee engagement initiatives.
- Experience developing executive-level presentations and communications.
- Experience with digital communication platforms, intranet content, social media, and content management systems.
- Experience using communication metrics and employee feedback to evaluate effectiveness.
- Familiarity with graphic design, photography, video, or multimedia content development.
- Experience working within a larger corporate or matrixed organization.

Leadership Expectations
As an Associate Manager, this role is expected to demonstrate leadership through influence, collaboration, and ownership. The position may lead communication and strategic planning projects, coordinate the work of internal and external resources, and provide guidance to colleagues supporting communication activities.
The Associate Manager is expected to build trusted relationships across the organization, anticipate communication needs, and proactively recommend approaches that improve employee understanding, engagement, and alignment with Pratt Miller's strategic direction.
Working Environment
This position operates in a collaborative, fast-paced environment supporting multiple business areas and stakeholders. The role may require occasional travel and participation in company or employee events outside of normal business hours.
Pay Range:
$92,600.00 - $154,400.00The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
