Job Description:

The Investment Manager Research (IMR) team is responsible for the research, selection, and ongoing oversight of investment strategies available across TD Wealth. The team maintains Preferred Lists covering mutual funds, ETFs, separately managed accounts (SMAs), and other managed investment solutions, and provides research insights, due diligence, and thought leadership to internal stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities

The Senior Investment Research Analyst will contribute to the research, monitoring, and evaluation of active and passive investment strategies. The role will support investment recommendations, due diligence reviews, Preferred List oversight, and the ongoing monitoring of asset managers, investment products, and industry developments.

The role spans multiple investment vehicles, including mutual funds, ETFs, and separately managed accounts (SMAs). Other responsibilities include:

• Conduct due diligence and ongoing monitoring of assigned investment strategies, managers and products.
• Evaluate investment philosophy, process, people, performance and fees when assessing portfolio managers and investment solutions.

• Analyze portfolio characteristics, risk exposures, implementation considerations, and benchmark-relative performance.
• Assess ETF structures, index methodologies, portfolio construction, liquidity, trading considerations, and implementation efficiency.
• Monitor material developments, including team changes, process evolution, mandate changes, portfolio risks, and industry trends.

• Develop independent investment views and contribute to Preferred List recommendations.

• Prepare investment proposals, due diligence reports, advisor and stakeholder communications, and other research materials.

• Maintain complete, accurate and audit-ready research documentation.

• Participate in meetings with asset managers, ETF issuers, index providers, and other industry participants.

• Contribute to thought leadership, advisor support initiatives and broader team projects.

Job Requirements

• University degree in finance, economics, business, or a related discipline.
• Three to five years of experience in investment research, asset management, investment consulting, capital markets, or a related field.

• Progress toward the CFA designation is preferred.
• Knowledge of investment products, portfolio construction and capital markets.

• Demonstrated interest in and understanding of both active and passive investment approaches.

• Strong analytical, research and critical-thinking skills.

• Ability to evaluate investment strategies using both qualitative and quantitative evidence, rather than relying primarily on recent performance.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Experience with Bloomberg, FactSet, Morningstar Direct or similar research platforms is an asset.
• The workplace model is 4 days in the office
