About the Role

S&P Global Ratings' EMEA Corporates practice assesses the creditworthiness of companies across industries, delivering independent credit opinions that support transparent, comparable decision-making in global financial markets. The Autos, Capital Goods, Aerospace & Defense, Transport, and Industrial Holding Companies (AIMI) team covers approximately 190 issuers across Europe, with 24 analysts based in London, Frankfurt, Paris, Milan, and Stockholm. The team is united by a shared commitment to analytical excellence and high-quality, independent ratings that investors and markets rely on.

What You'll Do

Impact

You will contribute to independent credit opinions that issuers and investors across Europe depend on — shaping analytical perspectives on complex, asset-intensive sectors, developing the next generation of analysts, and supporting the responsible integration of AI-enabled tools that extend analytical capability without compromising quality or integrity.

Responsibilities

Team Contribution & Capability Building

  • Serve as a senior reference point for junior analysts, coaching on credit fundamentals, financial modeling, data quality, and responsible AI use; coordinate work across the portfolio and proactively manage capacity and quality risks.
  • Drive continuous improvement by refining analytical playbooks and standard processes; partner with stakeholders to support the responsible testing and rollout of new analytical capabilities with appropriate governance and controls.

Core Analytical & Delivery

  • Execute end-to-end credit analysis across a defined portfolio of European corporate issuers, maintaining consistently high standards of quality, timeliness, and analytical clarity.
  • Lead surveillance and analytical updates, connecting issuer performance and market developments to forward-looking risk themes, with rigorous validation, documentation, and reconciliation of analytical assumptions.
  • Use approved generative AI tools to accelerate research, drafting, and peer comparisons, maintaining full accountability for all outputs.

Stakeholder & Market Engagement

  • Translate complex data and research into market-facing narratives that communicate S&P Global's analytical viewpoint to issuers, investors, and senior market participants.
  • Contribute to thought leadership by researching, drafting, and refining market-facing content with senior team input.

Risk Management & Operations

  • Maintain adherence to methodology, confidentiality, and data governance requirements; escalate emerging risks promptly and embed responsible AI practices into day-to-day workflows.
  • Support the safe, monitored scaling of automation to remove low-value tasks, defining requirements and controls in partnership with relevant technical teams.

What We're Looking For:

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven credit and financial analysis skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, decision-useful insights grounded in evidence and judgment.
  • Strong understanding of the financial services environment and the ability to connect market and sector developments to emerging risk themes.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for committee-ready documentation and senior-level engagement with issuers, investors, and market participants.
  • Proven experience coaching or mentoring junior analysts, with a track record of raising analytical quality through structured feedback and review.

Preferred or Helpful Experience

  • Experience integrating generative AI or large language model tools into analytical workflows, with disciplined governance, validation, and responsible use practices.
  • Familiarity with data or automation tools relevant to credit analysis, including the ability to support the testing and adoption of new capabilities.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with evidence of simplifying processes through standardization, tooling, or automation.
  • An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in corporate credit analysis or a related financial services field.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent required. A master's degree or professional certification (such as CFA) is highly valued. We welcome candidates from traditional finance disciplines as well as diverse academic backgrounds that support innovative and critical thinking.
  • Additional European languages beyond English preferred.

Additional Information

  • We require all candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in-person interview, which is ordinarily at your nearest S&P Global Ratings office. This must be completed before we can proceed to an offer.
  • Employees are required to work from the office a minimum of two days per week.
  • Willingness to travel within Europe, sometimes at short notice.
