Job Description

This position plays a pivotal role in the ongoing strategic planning, accreditation, quality assurance, and graduate education programs of the College of Business Administration (COBA) at Texas A&M University-Central Texas. The Associate Dean reports directly to the Dean of COBA, serves as a member of the senior staff and college leadership team, and works closely with the COBA Department Chairs. In addition to administrative duties, the Associate Dean is also responsible for administrative and academic oversight of the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) degrees, serving as the Graduate Program Director.

A Presidential Proclamation issued on September 19, 2025, imposes a $100,000 fee on all new H‑1B petitions filed after September 21, 2025, and Texas A&M University–Central Texas will not pay this fee. Additionally, a moratorium issued by Governor Abbott on January 27, 2026, restricts the filing of new H‑1B petitions unless approved by the Texas Workforce Commission. Accordingly, if you will now or in the future require sponsorship for employment visa status this moratorium may affect our ability to employ you should you be selected as the final candidate. Applicants must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer.

Under the direction of the Dean, the Associate Dean oversees high-level academic, quality assurance, and administrative functions of the College:

  • AACSB & SACSCOC Accreditation Leadership: Lead the planning, monitoring, and reporting for COBA's AACSB and SACSCOC accreditation efforts.

  • Academic Advising Coordination: Coordinate advising and student mentoring processes with the Office of Advising and Retention.

  • Academic Catalog Maintenance: Ensure the complete accuracy of all undergraduate and graduate program descriptions, requirements, and policies published in the University Catalog (bulletin).

  • Committee Leadership: Chair the college-level Accreditation and Assessment Committee. Serve as an ex officio member on other college committees designated by the Dean and coordinate COBA committee assignments.

  • Curriculum Committee Review: Review all academic proposals originating from the COBA Graduate Curriculum Committee for accuracy, compliance, and completeness before further routing.

  • Faculty Sufficiency & Qualifications: Manage and evaluate the college's faculty qualifications and sufficiency processes, verifying compliance with SACSCOC and AACSB standards and compiling the necessary annual report data.

  • Policy & Compliance Administration: Ensure rigorous college compliance with university mandates, including timely syllabi collection, faculty credentials/CV submissions, and student evaluation of instruction (SEI) distributions.

  • Signature Authority: Hold signature authority for academic, curricular, and student petitions, and manage authorized financial or administrative approvals in the absence of or as delegated by the Dean.

  • Student Council Coordination: Coordinate and provide administrative support to the COBA Student Advisory Council.

  • University Committee Representation: Serve as the Dean's representative on designated University and external committees as required.

As the MBA & DBA Program Director, the Associate Dean maintains academic and administrative responsibility for these programs:

  • Admissions Coordination: Provide original intake review for all DBA applications and coordinate the formal admissions reviews with the DBA Admissions Committee.

  • Committee Leadership: Chair the DBA Planning Committee (DBA Steering Committee) to guide doctoral policies, handbook revisions, and doctoral affairs.

  • Course Scheduling Coordination: Collaborate directly with COBA department chairs to coordinate the master's course schedules and rotation cycles each semester.

  • Curriculum & Assessment Support: Lead the development, assessment, implementation, and quality review of all DBA-level curricular and course coverage requirements, collaborating with Department Chairs for teaching assignments.

  • DBA Budget Oversight: Create and approve the DBA program operating budget, ensuring alignment with college resources and strategic priorities.

  • Marketing & Recruitment: Coordinate graduate program marketing and recruitment efforts with the Office of Enrollment Marketing and Communications.

  • Program Operations: Direct and manage the day-to-day operational, academic, and scheduling aspects of the DBA program.

  • Student Progress Milestones: Coordinate core academic milestones, including the DBA Comprehensive Examinations, doctoral dissertation committee formations, and dissertation proposal defenses.

  • Student Residency Visits: Coordinate on-campus visits for prospective doctoral students and manage the scheduled on-campus instructional residencies for enrolled cohorts.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must hold an earned doctorate from an accredited institution in a discipline offered within the College of Business Administration (COBA) at Texas A&M University-Central Texas or a closely-related field.

  • Must hold or be eligible for a tenured faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor within the college.

  • Demonstrated academic leadership experience, such as department chair, program director, or college committee lead, with a preference for experience managing AACSB and SACSCOC accreditation processes.

  • Experience in supervising dissertation research is preferred.

Teaching & Workload Commitments: Commitment to teaching 4 courses (or equivalent) per calendar year in an active discipline within COBA with a strong preference for Management, particularly Leadership or Strategy. No overloads will be approved except in extenuating circumstances.

Compensation: Total compensation of $170,000 - $180,000 (inclusive of stipend) on a 12-month faculty contract.

Hours: Monday - Friday; 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Nights and weekends as needed.
