Position Information

The Associate Director, Institute provides strategic and operational leadership for the Borlaug Institute by overseeing daily operations, fostering global partnerships, securing funding, advancing international research and education initiatives, and representing the Institute in support of its mission and goals.

Responsibilities:

-Deputy Director for the Institute representing Director in his/her absence.

-Manages the day-to-day operations of all staff, reviewing and approving all proposals prior to submissions and directing human resources, financial and budget operations for the Institute.

-responsible for external relations portfolio working with USAID, USDA, US State Department, NGO's US and Foreign Embassies and governments, corporations, the media, foundations and US and international universities to further the strategic vision and mission of the Institute.

-Coordinates with faculty across the university and A&M System on international research and teaching exchange opportunities.

-Lectures various university classes three to five times per semester and provides instruction and education to faculty, staff and students on international protocols, nutrition, poverty and hunger issues, global affairs, security, cultural competencies and global health.
-Provides support, evaluation, feedback, direction and responsibility on specific projects. Identify and develop prospective partnerships with individuals, foundations, NGO's, government agencies; including the US and foreign governments and corporations.
-Secures additional funding and development opportunities to enable students and faculty to engage globally and enhance the mission of the Borlaug Institute. Provide instruction and education to faculty and students on international protocol, global affairs, security and cultural competence; especially in the context of possessing the skills necessary to understand and communicate effectively.
-Represents the Institute with universities, foundations, government agencies; both foreign and domestic, corporations, media, NGO's and conference; both domestically and internationally, to further the strategic vision and mission of the Borlaug Institute.
-Performs other job related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

-Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and eight years of related experience.

-Ability to handle confidential and time sensitive matters.

-Superior organizational skills.

-Excellent interpersonal skills and verbal and written communication skills.

-Excellent word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software skills.

-Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others.

What You Need to Know

Salary: Compensation for this position is commensurate based on the selected candidate’s qualifications. This is a part-time position.
