Job Role: AI Automation Specialist

Compensation range: $1,200 AUD - $1,800 AUD / Monthly

Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement

Work Schedule: This role is expected to require roughly 15-20 hours per week. As a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your schedule, but availability for occasional collaboration during AU business hours is preferred.

Who The Client Is: Our client is a growing Australian accounting and business advisory firm based on the Gold Coast, with client relationships spanning more than 20 years. They provide accounting, tax, bookkeeping, payroll, and advisory services, helping businesses simplify their finances and support long-term growth.

The firm has an established team across Australia, the Philippines, and India, and is investing in AI and technology to streamline processes and give its accountants more time to focus on high-value client work.

Role Overview: We’re looking for an AI Automation Builder to help an Australian accounting firm streamline its day-to-day processes through practical AI agents and automations. You’ll work directly with management and the accounting team to identify repetitive tasks, build solutions, and keep them running reliably.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Build and implement AI agents and automations for accounting and administrative processes
• Billing automation: Build agents that pull reports from XPM, analyse the data, and prepare draft client bills for review
• Email automation: Build workflows that read incoming client emails and draft accurate responses for team members to review and send
• Admin efficiency: Automate repetitive day-to-day processes based on the team’s key pain points and priorities
• Connect AI tools and business systems through APIs and integrations
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and refine automations to keep them accurate and reliable
• Document workflows clearly so they are easy for the team to use and maintain
• Work closely with management and accountants to understand their needs and identify new opportunities for automation

Benefits

• Proven experience building and implementing AI agents and automations in a live business environment, with the ability to build automations that can pull and analyse XPM reports to prepare draft client bills, read incoming client emails and generate draft responses for review, and automate repetitive day-to-day administrative processes.
• Hands-on experience with LLM tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, or Microsoft Copilot
• Experience with automation platforms such as Make, Zapier, n8n, or Power Automate
• Strong understanding of APIs, integrations, and structured data
• Strong research and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify processes that can be improved through automation
• Excellent written English and ability to explain technical solutions clearly to non-technical users
• High attention to detail when working with financial and client data

Nice to have:

• Experience with Xero Practice Manager (XPM), Xero, or other accounting practice software
• Experience supporting an Australian accounting or professional services firm
• Experience with Microsoft 365 and Outlook automation
