We are looking for a proactive and relationship-driven Government Account Manager to strengthen Xtremax's engagement with government and public-sector customers. In this role, you will be responsible for developing strong relationships with key stakeholders, gaining a deep understanding of customer priorities and challenges, and identifying potential business opportunities within assigned accounts.
You will work closely with Business Development Managers, Solution Architects, and internal delivery teams to develop customer insights, qualify opportunities, and create a strong pipeline of potential projects. The ideal candidate is highly proactive, customer-focused, and capable of building trusted relationships across different levels of government organisations.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Engagement & Account Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with business users, working-level stakeholders, and key contacts within assigned government accounts.
- Conduct regular customer visits and engagement sessions to understand operational challenges, business priorities, and upcoming initiatives.
- Build strong customer intimacy and establish Xtremax as a trusted technology partner.
- Maintain regular communication with customers to understand changes in their business and technology needs.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen Xtremax's presence and expand relationships across different departments or business units.
Account Intelligence & Opportunity Identification
- Understand customer pain points, business requirements, and technology needs.
- Monitor upcoming projects, procurement plans, budget cycles, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Gather and maintain relevant market intelligence, stakeholder information, and competitive insights.
- Identify potential projects and business opportunities at an early stage, ideally before formal procurement or tender processes begin.
- Develop a clear understanding of customer decision-making processes and key stakeholders involved in potential opportunities.
Opportunity Development
- Identify, qualify, and develop potential business opportunities within assigned government accounts.
- Generate qualified opportunities and work closely with Business Development Managers to progress them through the sales pipeline.
- Coordinate customer discovery sessions, workshops, and initial solution discussions with relevant internal teams.
- Support account planning, opportunity qualification, and development of account strategies.
- Prepare and maintain account mapping, stakeholder mapping, and opportunity intelligence.
- Ensure relevant customer insights and opportunity information are properly communicated to the BDM and Solution Architecture teams.
Internal Coordination & Opportunity Support
- Work closely with Business Development Managers, Solution Architects, Delivery Teams, and other internal stakeholders to support customer engagement activities.
- Coordinate customer meetings, workshops, follow-ups, and next steps.
- Support the BDM in developing opportunities by providing customer intelligence and stakeholder insights.
- Track customer activities and ensure timely follow-up on agreed actions.
- Help ensure qualified opportunities progress efficiently through the sales pipeline.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Government Account Management, Account Management, Sales, Business Development, or Sales Support within the IT or technology industry.
- Experience working with government agencies, ministries, or state-owned enterprises is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of government organisations, stakeholder structures, and procurement processes.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers and stakeholders at different organisational levels.
- Strong ability to identify customer pain points, business needs, and potential technology opportunities.
- Good understanding of enterprise IT solutions, cloud services, digital transformation, or technology consulting is an advantage.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proactive, organised, and customer-focused with strong follow-up and opportunity development skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with BDMs, Solution Architects, and cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Existing network and relationships within government agencies or public-sector organisations.
- Experience working in a System Integrator, IT Consulting, Cloud Services, or Technology Solutions environment.
- Experience supporting government tenders, procurement processes, or public-sector IT projects.
- Understanding of cloud, application modernisation, cybersecurity, digital transformation, or other enterprise technology solutions.
- Experience in account mapping, stakeholder mapping, and early-stage opportunity development.
Role Focus
This position is primarily focused on building deep customer relationships, gathering customer intelligence, penetrating assigned government accounts, and identifying early-stage opportunities. The Government Account Manager will work closely with the Business Development Manager, who will take the lead in developing the overall sales strategy and driving qualified opportunities through the larger sales cycle toward closure.
