Role overview
We’re looking for an Underwriter with around 2 to 3 years Liability Underwriting experience to join our WebRater team within Commercial in Auckland. You’ll underwrite new and existing business through DUAL’s digital quote and bind platform, supporting brokers with timely decisions, practical solutions and a consistently high level of service.
WebRater allows brokers to enter client details, access eligible product options, generate quotes and bind cover online from one convenient platform. In this role, you’ll step in where underwriting input is needed, manage referred risks and help keep business moving.
This role will see you:
- Assessing new business, renewals and mid-term changes across WebRater products within your authority.
- Reviewing referrals and declines, requesting additional information and documenting clear underwriting decisions.
- Preparing and communicating quotations, bindings, policy conditions and endorsements.
- Managing your WebRater and IMS workflow, keeping notes, ownership and statuses accurate and up to date.
- Following up quotations, renewals and outstanding information to support conversion and retention.
- Supporting brokers by phone and email and helping resolve WebRater enquiries quickly.
- Applying underwriting guidelines, pricing and referral requirements consistently.
- Working across shared team queues and supporting the wider Commercial team during busy periods.
- Identifying opportunities for associated Commercial covers where appropriate.
About you
You’re an organised, confident underwriter who enjoys working at pace and taking ownership. You’ll be comfortable making decisions, speaking with brokers and working across a digital workflow where accuracy, responsiveness and follow-through matter.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Around 2 to 3 years’ Liability insurance underwriting experience, ideally across casualty & financial lines Liability.
- Sound risk assessment skills and an understanding of underwriting guidelines and referrals.
- Strong organisation, attention to detail and workload management.
- Clear and confident communication with brokers by phone and email.
- A collaborative, solutions-focused approach and willingness to support shared workloads.
