Federal Government client, a frontline in government service delivery is seeking Test Engineers to determine and then carry out testing activities to validate the design and behaviour of systems and services.
APS5 Test Analysts ensure that their test effort is effectively executed and that allocated activities are completed in a structured, consistent manner in accordance with agreed test guidelines. APS5 Test Analysts use their in-depth knowledge to provide technical advice and development to less experienced testers. APS5 Test Analysts work under the general direction and support of senior staff. They exercise a degree of independent judgement and make decisions within defined parameters that require reliance on skills and knowledge. They plan their own work and contribute to teamwork goals in the context of competing priorities, and changes in workplace practices and business improvement strategies.

- Working arrangements Hybrid The Labour Hire Worker is expected to work onsite for the first 6 weeks before a hybrid flexible working arrangement can be considered, unless otherwise negotiated. A hybrid flexible working arrangement may then be considered, ensuring the Labour Hire Worker’s residing address is within reasonable travel time and distance of the RFQ location to present onsite in cases of emergency or to meet business requirements. The location is the capital city of selected state/s.

Duties may include:
- execute assigned test cases at various stages of testing on appropriate testing platforms
- develop test plans, test cases, task cards, and supporting test data and/or requirements, under own direction from the specifications provided
- analyse and report on test activities and results, and escalate issues and risks to senior staff
- contribute to team improvement initiatives and projects, including team tools, process changes, and test automation
- identify, manage and document defects, programming errors and operational characteristics that are inconsistent with stated requirements and design specifications
- conduct testing to ensure the ICT service functions as per requirements
- create test data within external software vendor environment
- accurately record time and effort for test cases
- allocate work to team members, using judgement to match issue complexity and staff capability
- provide assistance and training to less experienced testers
- support team to follow business processes and align to overall delivery outcomes
- maintain up-to-date knowledge of ICT related legislation, policy and processes and transfer knowledge to other team members
- collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective and timely implementation of projects
- provide advice and assistance to external software vendors in regards to testing and development of software
- assist with cost analysis activities as required
- exercise appropriate delegations in accordance with legislation and guidelines.
Preferred Knowledge/Qualifications:
- ISTQB Certified Foundation Level Tester with extensive knowledge and understanding of:
- frameworks, legislation, policies, procedures and information management requirements relevant to the work area
- the agency’s privacy, ethics, workplace health and safety and security protocols
- relevant business systems and tools

- Methods and tools: Level 4 (SFIA)Provides advice and guidance to support the adoption of methods and tools and adherence to policies and standards. Tailors processes in line with agreed standards and evaluation of methods and tools. Reviews and improves usage and application of methods and tools.
- Testing: Level 4 (SFIA) Selects appropriate testing approach, including manual and automated testing. Develops and executes test plans and test cases. Implements scalable and reliable automated tests and frameworks. Collaborates across parties involved in product, systems or service design and development to enable comprehensive test coverage. Identifies improvements in requirements, design or specification processes to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of testing. Analyses and reports on test activities, results, issues and risks, including the work of others.
- User experience evaluation: Level 3 (SFIA) Evaluates design options and prototypes to obtain user feedback on requirements of developing systems, products, services or devices. Tests the usability and accessibility of components and alternative designs. Administers a range of evaluations, recording data and feedback. Analyses evaluation data and recommends actions. Identifies areas for future user research. Checks systems, products, services or devices for adherence to applicable standards, guidelines, style guides, and legislation. Evaluates the usability of existing or competitor systems to provide benchmark values and as input to design.

- Business situation analysis: Level 3 (SFIA) Investigates straightforward business situations to identify and analyse problems and opportunities. Contributes to the recommendation of improvements. Follows agreed standards and techniques to investigate, analyse and document business situations. Engages with stakeholders under direction.
- Quality assurance: Level 3 (SFIA) Contributes to the collection of evidence and the conduct of formal audits or reviews of activities. Examines records for evidence that appropriate testing and other quality control activities have taken place. Determines compliance with organisational directives, standards and procedures and identifies non-compliances, non-conformances and abnormal occurrences.
