Team Overview

The Managed File Transfer (MFT) team is responsible for delivering secure, scalable, and compliant data exchange capabilities that support critical business operations across TransUnion. MFT serves as a foundational platform enabling customers, partners, and internal teams to securely transfer and process data while meeting regulatory, security, and operational requirements.

The team is currently leading several strategic modernization initiatives, including large-scale customer migrations, cloud transformation, platform modernization, operational excellence improvements, and compliance-driven programs. Success requires close collaboration across Product, Engineering, Operations, Solution Consulting, Customer Success, Security, and Business stakeholders.

This role sits at the center of those efforts, helping translate business priorities into execution plans while ensuring successful delivery of customer-facing outcomes. This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.

Role Overview And Core Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Technical Product Manager (TPM) to lead the strategic execution and adoption of the Managed File Transfer (MFT) platform.

This is not a traditional product management role. Success requires a unique combination of product management, program management, and project management disciplines. The ideal candidate can define priorities, drive execution, orchestrate complex initiatives, and hold teams accountable for commitments.

You will be responsible for leading cross-functional efforts that span multiple engineering teams, operational groups, customer-facing organizations, and external stakeholders. A significant portion of the role involves driving large-scale migration programs where success depends on coordinating dozens of parallel workstreams, removing blockers, managing competing priorities, and ensuring customers successfully adopt platform capabilities.

The right candidate is a strong influencer who is comfortable challenging assumptions, escalating issues when necessary, and creating accountability across organizations. They must be capable of bringing structure to ambiguity and relentlessly driving initiatives to successful completion.

Core Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Platform Ownership

• Own and evolve the MFT platform roadmap in partnership with business, engineering, operations, and customer stakeholders.
• Balance customer needs, technical investments, operational requirements, and compliance obligations when prioritizing work.
• Define and communicate platform priorities, objectives, success metrics, and business outcomes.
• Partner with engineering to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

Program Leadership

• Lead complex, cross-functional initiatives spanning multiple teams, organizations, and external stakeholders.
• Drive large-scale customer migration and adoption programs from planning through completion.
• Establish clear milestones, dependencies, accountabilities, and success criteria across initiatives.
• Identify risks early and drive mitigation plans to maintain delivery commitments.
• Provide executive-level communication on progress, risks, dependencies, and outcomes.

Project Execution & Delivery

• Manage multiple concurrent initiatives and competing priorities without losing focus on strategic objectives.
• Drive execution through structured planning, tracking, and follow-through.
• Coordinate activities across engineering, operations, security, compliance, customer success, and business teams.
• Ensure delivery timelines, commitments, and dependencies are actively managed and visible.
• Escalate issues appropriately and proactively remove blockers impeding progress.

Stakeholder Management & Accountability

• Influence teams and leaders without direct authority.
• Hold stakeholders accountable for commitments and agreed-upon deliverables.
• Facilitate alignment across diverse stakeholder groups with competing priorities.
• Build trust and credibility through transparency, consistency, and results.
• Lead discussions with senior leadership regarding strategic priorities, risks, and delivery status.

Customer Migration & Adoption Leadership

• Own customer migration planning, execution tracking, and completion reporting.
• Partner with customer-facing teams to ensure successful onboarding and adoption.
• Develop migration strategies, readiness plans, and execution frameworks.
• Drive completion of critical milestones while managing customer-specific risks and dependencies.
• Establish metrics and reporting that measure actual adoption and business outcomes, not just activity.

Required Knowledge And Experiences

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in Product Management, Technical Product Management, Program Management, or related disciplines.
• Proven experience leading large-scale enterprise initiatives involving multiple teams and stakeholders.
• Demonstrated success managing complex migration, modernization, or platform transformation programs.
• Experience working closely with software engineering teams and technical architects in Agile environments.
• Track record of delivering business outcomes through influence rather than direct authority.

Leadership & Execution

• Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
• Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Demonstrated ability to create accountability and drive action across cross-functional teams.
• Comfortable operating in ambiguous situations and bringing clarity to complex problems.
• Strong decision-making and prioritization skills in fast-paced environments.
• Willingness to challenge the status quo and escalate issues when progress is at risk.

Technical & Business Knowledge

• Understanding of enterprise platforms, integrations, APIs, cloud technologies, and data exchange ecosystems.
• Experience working with secure file transfer, integration platforms, transaction processing, or related technologies preferred.
• Familiarity with operational excellence, compliance, security, and risk management concepts.
• Experience using Agile delivery methodologies and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making capabilities.

Within the first year, this individual will:

• Successfully lead complex customer migration initiatives from planning through adoption.
• Create visibility, accountability, and predictability across the MFT portfolio.
• Improve migration completion rates and reduce delivery risk through structured program execution.
• Establish clear prioritization frameworks that balance customer commitments, platform investments, and operational needs.
• Build strong partnerships across Product, Engineering, Operations, and Customer-facing teams.
• Become the central leader driving outcomes for one of the company's most strategic platform modernization initiatives.
