About Parallelz

Parallelz is building a new technology platform for delivering and discovering mobile applications. We let developers turn existing mobile apps and games into web-native experiences that run instantly in the browser, anywhere, with no changes to their code and no app store in between. Our games now run inside partner platforms, and we are scaling the system that delivers them.

AI is central to how we work. Every engineer pairs with capable agents, and agentic workflows run through how we triage, build, review, ship and operate. Our team and advisors include technologists from Google, Mozilla and MIT Media Lab, and we are backed by global venture funds and angel investors.

About the Role

As Technical Director, you will own the technical direction of Parallelz and lead a senior engineering team. You will work closely with the CEO and product leadership to turn priorities into architecture. You will stay close to the code: setting the design for the hardest problems, reviewing the work that matters, and building the agent-driven engineering system the team ships through.

This role suits a builder who has grown into leadership and still designs, writes and reviews software every day.

We value in-person collaboration. This role is based in our downtown Toronto office three or more days per week.

What You'll Do

• Own the architecture and technical roadmap across our platform, balancing performance, reliability and cost as usage grows.
• Lead hands-on on the hardest technical problems, working alongside senior engineers from design through production.
• Design and run our AI-native development system: the agent workflows, guardrails and quality gates that take work from ticket to production.
• Turn product and partner priorities into clear technical plans, and own delivery of the platform behind our live products and host integrations.
• Grow a senior team with high standards for craft and AI-native work, and lead hiring and development for your reports.
• Represent Parallelz technically with partners and across the wider group, including architecture reviews and technical due diligence.

Requirements

Must-haves:

• 10+ years building complex software, including time as a Staff, Principal or lead engineer with architectural ownership of a production system, and experience leading senior teams.
• Deep daily fluency with AI coding agents and agentic systems, a track record of bringing those workflows to a whole team, and a clear view on how to verify their output.
• A record of shipping live products in early-stage, venture-backed environments.
• Depth in performance-critical, deeply technical systems.
• Clear written and verbal communication, and comfort working directly with the Founder in a hybrid team.

Backgrounds we see this working well from include:

• Gaming, ad tech or consumer platform companies.
• Early-stage, zero-to-one experience as a founder or early technical leader, taking a product from idea to live users.
