Responsibilities:

• Manage and review Canadian T2 corporate income tax returns, including tax provisions, schedules, adjustments, and supporting documentation.
• Oversee GST/HST compliance, including GST/HST returns, input tax credits, reconciliations, and related filings.
• Lead Canadian tax planning and advisory initiatives, identifying opportunities to improve tax efficiency while maintaining compliance.
• Review tax work prepared by Canadian and U.S. tax teams, providing technical guidance and ensuring consistency, accuracy, and quality.
• Coordinate cross-border tax matters involving Canada and the U.S., including information gathering and review of tax positions and filings.
• Monitor changes in Canadian tax legislation, CRA administrative guidance, and GST/HST rules and assess their impact on the business.
• Manage tax compliance calendars, deadlines, and deliverables to ensure timely filings and payments.
• Lead and support CRA audits, GST/HST audits, corporate income tax audits, reassessments, objections, and information requests.
• Review tax calculations, reconciliations, workpapers, and supporting schedules prepared by staff and external advisors.
• Identify tax risks and recommend practical solutions to management.
• Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, Payroll, Legal, and U.S. tax teams on tax-related matters.
• Provide coaching, technical guidance, and quality control to junior tax professionals.

Requirements

• CPA designation preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive Canadian tax experience, preferably in corporate tax and GST/HST.
• Strong experience with Canadian T2 corporate tax compliance and GST/HST filings.
• Experience reviewing tax work prepared by offshore, Canadian, or U.S. teams.
• Working knowledge of Canadian and U.S. cross-border tax matters.
• Strong understanding of CRA compliance requirements and Canadian tax legislation.
• Excellent analytical, review, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work effectively with cross-functional and international teams.
