What you’ll be doing

As the Senior Consultant in Procurement, you will manage end-to-end procurement activities within the Procurement Sourcing team, focusing primarily on indirect spend to support IT (including on-premise software, software as a service, IT consulting, managed services, technology deliverable services) and non-IT categories across CIBC’s Technology and Security SBUs.

You will develop and present procurement strategy recommendations as part of advisory services to clients, informed by business requirements and industry analysis. You will lead, negotiate, execute, and implement medium- to high-complexity procurement initiatives (including requests for proposals and other supplier evaluation tools), while ensuring CIBC risks are mitigated, regulatory requirements and CIBC policies are followed, and organizational costs are optimized. You will also develop contract content independently or in partnership with legal resources, lead negotiation strategy alignment, manage contract negotiations, and secure authorizations for agreement execution.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you’ll succeed

  • Client Engagement & Relationship Management: Support clients in meeting their business goals by providing effective service and value. Develop trusted advisory relationships and provide leadership and consulting advice to facilitate the management and completion of procurement initiatives. Align procurement solutions with business objectives. Collaborate with Supplier Risk Stakeholders, Relationship Managers, and Business Leads to ensure CIBC’s supplier management framework is implemented for suppliers under your scope of responsibility.
  • Risk Management & Industry Knowledge: Ensure appropriate governance is followed for all contracts. Stay informed about industry trends, innovations, and best practices in business and technology.
  • Influencing and Negotiations: Demonstrate strong influencing and negotiation skills, and effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels. Oversee contract drafting, negotiations, finalization, and approval processes. Comply with CIBC’s Procurement and Supplier Governance policies and processes. Take accountability for client issues and collaborate with others to develop effective solutions.
  • Managing Multiple Priorities: Use effective self-management practices to balance multiple concurrent objectives, projects, and activities, making informed judgments about prioritization and time allocation.

Who you are

  • Your experience: You have at least 5 years of experience in procurement and/or supplier processes, practices, tools, and formal sourcing principles, with the ability to apply these across various categories and circumstances. You seek to maximize efficiencies, processes, and systems to achieve business goals. You have strong planning skills to manage your assignments, multi-task, and meet deadlines. You are experienced in drafting contract schedules (e.g., Scope of Work, SLAs) and negotiating contractual terms and conditions. You have experience developing strategy and translating it into actionable implementation plans. Strong written and verbal communication, influencing, and negotiation skills are essential. Familiarity with IT Services, ASP, SaaS, or Cloud-based contracts is an asset.
  • Relationship builder: You value diverse relationships and networks, building trust through respect and authenticity.
