Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced SAP Enterprise Architect with 10–15+ years of experience in architecting, shaping and delivering complex, large-scale SAP transformation programmes.

 

The successful candidate will combine deep SAP architecture expertise with strong commercial and stakeholder leadership capabilities. The role spans the full transformation lifecycle, from defining target architectures and evaluating solution options through solution design, estimation, contracting, mobilisation and delivery.

 

The individual will operate as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders while providing architectural across multidisciplinary and geographically distributed teams.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Enterprise & Solution Architecture

• Work with clients to define enterprise and target solution architectures for complex SAP landscapes, aligned to business strategy, transformation objectives and technology roadmaps.
• Assess current-state landscapes and develop pragmatic transition and target-state architectures across SAP and non-SAP environments.
• Lead architecture option analysis, evaluating alternative solutions, platforms, integration approaches and implementation options against business, technology, cost, risk and delivery considerations.
• Engage SAP, hyperscalers, software vendors and other technology partners where required to validate architecture decisions and resolve complex solution challenges.
• Provide architecture governance throughout the programme and ensure alignment between business requirements, application architecture, integration, data, security, infrastructure and delivery.

 

Solution Shaping & Commercial Management

• Lead conceptual solution design and programme scoping for SAP transformation opportunities and programmes.
• Translate business requirements and transformation objectives into an integrated SAP solution and delivery approach.
• Develop programme estimates covering effort, delivery timelines, resource requirements and delivery models.
• Define appropriate local, offshore and global delivery structures and identify the specialist capabilities required for successful execution.
• Support costing, pricing, commercial modelling and contracting, ensuring alignment between proposed scope, assumptions, estimates, dependencies and contractual commitments.
• Identify solution and delivery assumptions, dependencies, exclusions and risks during deal shaping to reduce downstream delivery exposure.
• Support proposals, client presentations, architecture workshops and executive-level solution discussions.

 

Client & Stakeholder Leadership

• Build trusted relationships with C-suite, CIO, CTO, programme leadership and senior business stakeholders.
• Facilitate architecture and solution workshops and help senior stakeholders make informed decisions where multiple technology or delivery options exist.
• Communicate complex architecture and programme issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Provide an independent, pragmatic perspective on solution feasibility, delivery risk, cost and implementation complexity.
• Act as a senior escalation point for critical architecture and delivery issues.

Required Experience & Skills

• 10–15+ years' experience in SAP consulting, architecture and/or delivery leadership roles.
• Demonstrated experience architecting large-scale SAP transformation programmes.
• Strong understanding of SAP S/4HANA architecture and transformation programmes, including integration with SAP and non-SAP applications.
• Proven capability in enterprise architecture, SAP solution architecture and conceptual solution design.
• Experience defining target architectures, transition architectures and technology roadmaps.
• Strong experience performing solution option assessments and architectural trade-off analysis.
• Demonstrated experience with solution estimation, resource planning, costing and pricing.
• Understanding of SAP programme commercials, proposals, statements of work and contractual considerations.
• Excellent senior stakeholder management, facilitation, negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to bridge business strategy, technology architecture and commercial considerations.

 

Not mandatory but Advantageous

• Strong programme/project management and delivery leadership capability advantageous.
• Extensive experience managing programme risks, issues, dependencies and escalations.
• Proven ability to mobilise and lead large, multidisciplinary and globally distributed teams.

 

 

Desirable Experience

• Architecture experience across areas such as SAP S/4HANA, SAP BTP, SAP Integration Suite, SAP Analytics Cloud, SAP Datasphere, SuccessFactors, Ariba or other SAP cloud solutions, depending on programme scope.
• Experience with both greenfield and brownfield / transformation approaches.
• Experience integrating SAP environments with cloud, legacy and third-party enterprise platforms.
• Familiarity with architecture frameworks and methods such as TOGAF and SAP architecture methodologies.
• SAP, enterprise architecture, cloud or programme management certifications would be advantageous.

 

What Success Looks Like

• The successful candidate will be able to move comfortably between boardroom-level discussions and detailed architecture conversations. They will understand not only what the right SAP architecture should look like, but also how to estimate it, price it, contract it, mobilise the right team and successfully deliver it.
• They will bring together three capabilities that are often separated into different roles:
  • Enterprise Architecture + SAP Solution Architecture + Commercial Solution Shaping
• This combination makes the role particularly suited to complex SAP transformations where architecture decisions must be practical, commercially viable and executable.
