About the Role
Monks is looking for an experienced and creative Social Designer to join a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality social media creative for a global automotive brand. This is a hands-on role for a designer with strong visual craft, motion-design capabilities, conceptual thinking, and extensive Figma knowledge. You will take ownership of projects from initial exploration through final delivery, collaborating closely with Design, Content, Creative, Production, and Community Management. Reporting to the Design Lead, you will help raise the quality and consistency of the team’s work while contributing to more effective, scalable, and collaborative creative processes.
Responsibilities:
Social Design and Creative Development
- Develop strong visual concepts and social-first creative solutions for campaigns, content calendars, and local-market requests.
- Translate strategic and content objectives into engaging static, motion, and video executions.
- Think in movement from the beginning of the creative process rather than treating motion as a final adaptation.
- Take ownership of assigned projects from initial exploration through final delivery.
- Conduct image research, visual exploration, and reference gathering to identify relevant creative directions.
- Apply brand guidelines consistently while finding opportunities for fresh and culturally relevant executions.
- Design for different social platforms, formats, audiences, and market requirements.
- Maintain a strong understanding of social media trends, platform behaviours, visual culture, and emerging creative opportunities.
Motion Design
- Create high-quality motion graphics and animated social content using After Effects.
- Translate static visual systems and campaign concepts into compelling motion executions.
- Develop storyboards, animation tests, transitions, kinetic typography, and modular motion behaviours.
- Edit and assemble short-form video content for social platforms.
- Adapt motion assets across different formats, durations, languages, and platform specifications.
- Balance visual impact, storytelling, brand consistency, and production efficiency.
- Prepare organised project files that can be understood, reused, and adapted by other team members.
- Collaborate with Production and other motion specialists when projects require additional capabilities.
Figma and Design Systems
- Use Figma confidently as a central tool for collaborative design and production.
- Build and maintain structured files, reusable components, variants, templates, and shared libraries.
- Use Auto Layout, component properties, styles, variables, and prototyping features effectively.
- Help create scalable design systems that support consistency across brands, markets, formats, and languages.
- Improve the usability and organisation of shared Figma environments.
- Identify opportunities to simplify repetitive adaptation and production tasks through better component structures and templates.
- Support other team members in adopting effective Figma practices and workflows.
Collaboration and Creative Quality
- Collaborate with Content and Creative teams from the early stages of selected projects.
- Participate actively in creative reviews and provide clear, constructive peer feedback.
- Work closely with Production to ensure ideas can be executed effectively and efficiently.
- Share references, techniques, and learnings that strengthen the wider design team.
- Support less-experienced designers when appropriate without assuming formal people-management responsibilities.
- Contribute to a culture of curiosity, collaboration, accountability, and high creative standards.
Production and Delivery
- Create and adapt static, motion, and video assets while maintaining brand and visual consistency.
- Prepare accurate final files according to technical specifications and delivery requirements.
- Develop campaign presentations, creative decks, and design documentation.
- Manage multiple assigned projects and communicate clearly about progress, dependencies, and delivery risks.
- Work with the Design Lead and Project Management to estimate effort and support realistic planning.
- Identify workflow improvements that can reduce unnecessary production, translation, adaptation, and rework.
Creative Technology and AI
- Explore AI-assisted tools for research, ideation, experimentation, motion, and production.
- Apply emerging technology thoughtfully without compromising creative judgement, brand integrity, or craft.
- Help identify repetitive tasks that could be improved through templates, automation, or AI.
- Share useful tools, experiments, and working practices with the wider team.
