On behalf of our partner, prominent digital marketing agency Lago is looking for an experienced SEO Link Building Manager to take full ownership of our link-building campaigns across approximately 50 SEO client accounts. We are looking for a strategic, relationship-driven approach to link building, focused on earning relevant, high-quality backlinks that strengthen our clients' websites and support long-term SEO growth.
Our partners` portfolio span a variety of industries, with a significant focus on local service-based businesses, including construction, home services, healthcare, and other professional services. They already have a defined link-building strategy and framework, and they need someone to execute it from start to finish for each of our clients. This includes backlink gap analysis, prospecting, outreach, relationship building, securing placements, monitoring results, and continually identifying new opportunities. You'll be responsible for managing ongoing link-building campaigns across our client portfolio while maintaining detailed records and keeping projects moving forward independently.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute Link-Building Strategies: Each client has different SEO goals, target markets, services, and opportunities. You'll execute a realistic, targeted backlink strategy.
• Perform backlink gap analyses against each client's primary local or industry competitors.
• Identify high-value link opportunities that competitors have acquired and determine which are realistically attainable.
• Evaluate each client's existing backlink profile to identify strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities.
• Collaborate with our SEO team to identify which pages need additional authority, including service pages, location pages, homepages, and informational content.
• Develop a target page plan that distributes backlinks strategically across priority pages.
• Establish natural anchor text recommendations using primarily branded, navigational, and contextually relevant anchors.
• Identify link opportunities based on each client's industry, geographic location, partnerships, and existing relationships.
• Build and maintain a prioritized prospect list for every client.
• Create realistic monthly link acquisition plans based on client needs and campaign budgets.
• Research & Identify High-Quality Backlink Opportunities: A major part of this position involves finding legitimate websites, organizations, and businesses that could provide valuable links to our clients. We focus on backlinks that are relevant to the client's industry, service area, or target audience.
• Write personalized outreach emails and communicate with website owners, businesses, and organizations.
• Manage follow-ups, relationship building, and placement coordination.
• Submit clients to relevant directories, associations, and industry listings.
• Secure quality backlinks and verify that placements are accurate and live.
• Coordinate with the SEO team to align backlink efforts with priority pages and newly published content.
• Identify opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships, and other relevant placements.
• Communicate progress, challenges, and opportunities to internal team members.
• Execute monthly link-building campaigns across approximately 50 SEO accounts.
• Maintain organized prospect lists and consistent outreach schedules.
• Work toward client-specific link acquisition goals while prioritizing quality over quantity.
• Continuously identify new opportunities and adjust strategies based on results.
• Maintain accurate records of prospects, outreach activity, follow-ups, and acquired backlinks.
• Track referring domains, anchor text, target pages, and link quality.
• Monitor acquired backlinks for changes or removals.
• Report on campaign progress, referring domain growth, referral traffic, and relevant ranking changes.
• Follow white-hat SEO practices and avoid spammy or manipulative link-building tactics.
• Prioritize backlinks from legitimate, relevant websites and organizations.
• Maintain and improve link-building workflows, documentation, and tracking systems.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve campaign efficiency.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in SEO link building, off-page SEO, or digital PR.
• Proven ability to research, evaluate, and secure high-quality backlinks.
• Strong understanding of SEO, competitor backlink analysis, and link acquisition strategies.
• Experience with outreach, relationship building, and local SEO.
• Proficiency with Ahrefs, Semrush, or similar SEO tools.
• Excellent research, organization, and written communication skills.
• Experience using Google Sheets, Excel, and project management tools.
• Ability to independently manage multiple client campaigns and deadlines.
• Preferred Qualifications
• Previous experience at an SEO or digital marketing agency.
• Experience building links for local service-based businesses.
• Familiarity with digital PR, editorial outreach, and relationship-based link acquisition.
• Experience securing links through trade associations, suppliers, business partnerships, and local organizations.
• Knowledge of Google Search Console and Google Analytics.
• Experience improving SEO workflows, processes, and automations.
