This is a highly autonomous, hands-on, plant-based role for someone who enjoys solving equipment problems, creating structure, and delivering sustainable operating improvements. You will work directly with manufacturing equipment, independently set priorities, and drive improvements from planning through execution.

Strong project management ability is essential. You will define scope, develop plans and budgets, coordinate vendors and contractors, manage risks, and keep capital-equipment projects on track through commissioning. You will combine independent ownership with close collaboration across Operations, Quality, EHS, and Supply Chain.

This position is part of the Operations Team located in Elk Grove, IL and will be on-site.

In this role, a typical day will look like:

Reliability and maintenance

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve a best-in-class preventative and predictive maintenance program that maximizes equipment reliability and minimizes unplanned downtime for chemical mixing and filling lines.
  • Develop equipment maintenance strategies, spare parts management, asset documentation, and equipment lifecycle plans.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment uptime, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), safety, quality, and cost reduction.
  • Develop equipment standards, maintenance procedures, work instructions, and engineering documentation.
  • Support troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment and lead root cause investigations for recurring equipment failures.

Capital Projects and manufacturing improvement

  • Lead the planning, budgeting, execution, and commissioning of chemical mixing and filling capital investment projects supporting manufacturing growth, automation, infrastructure, and facility improvements.
  • Partner with Operations to identify process bottlenecks and implement engineering solutions that improve productivity and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Evaluate and implement automation, new technologies, and process improvements that enhance manufacturing capability and reduce operating costs.
  • Manage relationships with equipment vendors, contractors, and external engineering resources.

Leadership, safety and facilities

  • Provide direct leadership, coaching, and development for the site's Maintenance Technician while establishing clear priorities, standard work, and accountability
  • Collaborate with EHS to ensure manufacturing equipment and facility projects meet all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support facility maintenance activities including utilities, infrastructure, and building systems as required.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in packaging, filling, chemical processing, or high-mix manufacturing environments.
  • Experience developing, implementing, or materially improving a preventive or predictive maintenance program.
  • Proven experience participating in or leading capital investment projects from concept through installation and commissioning.
  • Demonstrated experience with manufacturing equipment and relevant mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical-control, or automation systems.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting manufacturing infrastructure and facility systems.
  • Experience with CMMS systems and maintenance planning practices.
  • Experience implementing automation or Industry 4.0 technologies.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, NFPA, and industrial safety standards.
  • Experience leading maintenance personnel or technical teams with a focus on coaching and accountability.
