Sobre este puesto de Senior Product Manager, Client Libraries en MongoDB
The Senior Product Manager is a core Individual Contributor (IC) product role responsible for leading a complex, business-critical product area with significant dependencies, owning high-impact roadmap and product decisions over a multi-year horizon for the Client Libraries portfolio (MongoDB drivers across many programming languages, Object Document Mappers, and App Framework integrations) at MongoDB. You move beyond what data confirms to anticipate where customer needs and competitive dynamics are heading before the data makes it obvious, acting effectively even when signals are incomplete.
You serve as a go-to domain expert and mentor across Product, Engineering, Design, and Go-To-Market (GTM) teams, turning ambiguous opportunities into clear business cases and leading cross-functional execution for developer-facing SDKs, drivers, ODMs (e.g., Mongoose, Entity Framework Core, Hibernate, Django), and framework ecosystems (Drizzle, Feast).
This role can be in-office, flexible (hybrid), or remote in the United States.
Responsibilities
- Vision & Strategy: Convert company and organizational strategy into a compelling vision and multi-year roadmap for the Client Libraries portfolio, making independent prioritization calls under incomplete information regarding major languages driving MongoDB Atlas growth, fast-growing ODMs, and strategic language communities
- Anticipatory Customer Discovery: Maintain deep market and customer knowledge across a complex domain, reading subtle signals across developers, framework maintainers, and enterprise buyers to anticipate unstated customer needs and competitive dynamics (including how AI-native tooling is reshaping developer expectations)
- Business Cases & Monetization: Turn ambiguous or untapped opportunities within or adjacent to your domain (such as new language drivers, framework integrations, or driver capabilities) into clear, actionable business cases, including packaging, adoption strategy, and revenue implications for MongoDB Atlas
- Complex Delivery Execution: Keep delivery on track across complex product surfaces by spotting technical, enablement, and operational risks early across engineering teams, making high-stakes delivery decisions independently
- Go-To-Market & Field Enablement: Drive go-to-market messaging strategy alongside Product Marketing; anticipate enablement or positioning gaps closely enough to drive cross-functional work—engaging with developer communities, hopping on sales calls, and publishing blog posts—before major launches or key deals
- Strategic Product Health: Independently own and resolve complex post-launch customer escalations (e.g., connection handling, API ergonomics, performance, or compatibility issues), balancing maintenance investment against new development and treating product health issues as strategic risks
- Communication & Executive Influence: Deliver difficult or incomplete messages directly across leadership levels with a clear point of view, using reasoned arguments and data to influence without authority, including explaining the rationale behind what you will and won't build
- Customer Engagement: Manage high-stakes enterprise customer conversations independently, converting pain points into roadmap contributions and bringing in leadership only when trade-offs extend beyond your domain
- Craft Mentorship: Mentor more junior PMs in developing roadmap judgment, customer intuition, and trade-off framing, helping them move from reporting facts to defending clear points of view
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in product management, technical product delivery, or software engineering, with a track record of owning complex, business-critical product areas. Ideally with SDKs, developer tools, APIs, or client-facing libraries
- Deep domain expertise in developer tools, client libraries, database drivers, ORMs/ODMs, or application framework integrations
- Strong technical fluency in at least one major programming language, alongside real familiarity with how developers construct applications using drivers, ORMs, or ODMs
- Demonstrated ability to make sound product and roadmap decisions under ambiguity using incomplete signals (support issues, usage telemetry, community sentiment)
- Track record of building actionable business cases, including adoption modeling and financial justification for new product capabilities or ecosystem investments
- Proven capability to spot delivery, technical, and operational risks early across complex cross-team dependencies
- Strong cross-functional influence without direct reporting authority, with the confidence to deliver direct, transparent messages to senior stakeholders and pitch to business unit owners internally and externally
- Excellent oral, written, and customer-facing presentation skills, with experience managing high-stakes enterprise customer and developer community conversations
Nice to Have
- Direct experience building, maintaining, or driving product strategy for a database driver, ORM/ODM, or client library used by external developers
- Familiarity with MongoDB specifically, or with how ODM/framework ecosystems (e.g., EF Core, Hibernate, Laravel, Django, Spring Data) relate to an underlying database's driver layer
- Familiarity with how AI-native tooling (agent frameworks, AI SDKs embedded in traditional frameworks) is reshaping developer expectations of client libraries
